Cruz Ending Campaign After Indiana Loss to Trump
The Texas Tribune ^ | 5/3/16 | Patrick Svitek

INDIANAPOLIS — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is ending his campaign after suffering a devastating loss to frontrunner Donald Trump in the Indiana primary, campaign manager Jeff Roe told the Texas Tribune.

With about 43 percent of the vote in, Trump was projected to beat Cruz by about 2o points, 54 percent to 35 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who had struck a deal with Cruz to effectively concede the Hoosier State, was winning less than 10 percent of the vote.

Trump was on track to win most — if not all — of Indiana's 57 delegates, significantly easing his path to the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the Republican National Convention. Eyeing a contested convention, Cruz has vowed to stay in the race regardless of the outcome in the Hoosier State.

Minutes after major TV networks projected Trump's victory, he renewed his call for Cruz to leave the race.

"Lyin' Ted Cruz consistently said that he will, and must, win Indiana," Trump tweeted. "If he doesn't he should drop out of the race-stop wasting time & money."

Cruz went all in on Indiana, recognizing its importance in holding Trump under the 1,237-delegate threshold. In addition to teaming up with Kasich, Cruz took the unusual step of naming former rival Carly Fiorina his running mate. He also had the backing of Gov. Mike Pence, an initially tepid endorsement that Pence sought to fortify in the final days before the primary.

Cruz is now left with a narrower path than ever to the nomination, entirely dependent on denying Trump 1,237 delegates. Cruz’s loss in Indiana is likely to give rise to calls for him to drop out of the race, something he has said he will not do as long as he still sees a path to victory in Cleveland.

Cruz’s campaign indicated Tuesday afternoon he was not immediately leaving the race, announcing rallies Wednesday in Nebraska and Washington. For weeks, Cruz has said the race will come down to the primary June 7 in California, whose 172 delegates make it the biggest prize of the nominating process.

I didn’t bother with most of that. But I’m not going to dump on you in your moment of sorrow.

But you might want to hit ‘refresh’ on those head-to-head polls.

“If you want to come on here and make an ass of yourself and throw a temper “

I didn’t throw a temper tantrum. Try actually reading my posts. I just said made a comment about it being sad Hillary just got elected. It is sad.

“a lot of vitriol around here, but it’s mainly been Cruz supporters”

Now that is a blatant lie. Over 80% of the vile behavior on FR has been from Trump supporters...much like at the Trump rallies. In fact, Trump supporters were the first to start slinging mud in this thread, including you. But of course, Trump supporters always seem play the victim and justify their vile behavior.

Hint: You just admitted that I should expect to be “needled” then you try to claim Trump supporters are not causing the issues???

You should relax and listen to Trump. He’s nothing like the skank. You just refuse to listen. Too bad for you and I know Trump isn’t anywhere near perfect, but I am betting he’ll prove you wrong. He can’t do that if people like you don’t help.

“The problem with Trump supporters is that you insist on constantly attacking anyone and anything that disagrees with you or your narrative.”

And only now they ‘say’ TV Star isn’t conservative AND that if we don’t carry his water like we did for the last two creeps of GOPe, then we will be the reason THEIR NY Liberal loses to the most corrupt Dem in my lifetime.

TV Stars Lemmings never wanted our opinion anyway. Forget about blaming conservatives for nom’n a NY Lib, ya’ll beg for our support now.

Disgusting.

And LLC the Gestapo? Drama much? No wonder you’re a Cruz supporter. If you don’t want to vote for Trump, then why would you even want to be on here anymore? The only reason is to stir up trouble. Opus out already. You practically did in your last post anyway.

“Neither you nor I have any idea how this will all shake out in the long run”

I never said that I do know how things will shake out. I do believe that Hillary will win against Trump based on the numerous polls and the fact that Trump has alienated most conservatives that don’t support him. I do know that Trump will not win unless he can pull more Republicans than Romney did and Trump’s unfavorability among conservatives that didn’t vote for him are really high. Contrary to the belief of Trump supporters, Trump can’t win without Cruz’s supporters. The math just doesn’t support it.

If he doesn’t change his ways, then more people will stay home than did with Romney (and yes, I held my nose for Romney, but won’t do it again).

I’ve been plugging my nose since 1988 so plugging it again won’t be an issue.

“You should relax and listen to Trump.”

I’ve listened to Trump and read his books. I know Trump and I don’t like him or trust him. I will not forego my principles to support him.

The problem with Trump supporters is that you insist on constantly attacking anyone and anything that disagrees with you or your narrative.

That was also true of Cruz supporters. Let bygones be bygones. Now we should focus on defeating the Wicked Witch.

Yes, I’m a Texan and no, my skin isn’t thin, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t get tired of people acting like pricks. I can tolerate them, but doesn’t mean I like it and it definitely doesn’t mean their behavior is right.

That is far from realistic. Get on the Trump train!!!
