Woman Confronts Man for Using Food Stamps at Walmart
Fox News ^ | 5/3 | Fox

A video posted to YouTube appears to show a woman confronting a man at Walmart for paying for his groceries with food stamps.

The video, which has quickly gone viral, shows the woman standing behind the man, who was at the checkout counter with a child.

The two had apparently already exchanged words, in front of children, as the video started.

"I put in 50 to 60-hour weeks," the man said. "I’m trying to provide for my family."

He told her to, "Deal with it, b****," and asked her to mind her own business.

"I don’t have to. It’s a free country, remember?" the woman countered. "If I’m gonna pay for all your s***, the least I can do is talk."

I have no trouble with a short term helping hand (emphasis on SHORT).

It was supposed to be a safety net, not a hammock.

It was also supposed to be a temporary assistance, not a multi-generational lifestyle.

hard to tell a person's circumstances in a checkout line.

minimum wage is at least $7.25 per hour and as much as $10.50 and going up

It is one thing to give people food stamps, its another to give them an Obama phone. People lived without phones for thousands of years, so its a little inconvenient for them, it should be if they can't pay for it.

people no longer feel embarrassed or shamed for taking money without earning it. he is right the government is at fault here, he is just taking advantage of it. Politicians are buying votes with our tax dollar and we are reaching the 50/50 tipping point of no return where there will be more people getting govt money than earning it.

I was in a Walmart the other day when a young couple (not Amish) with a healthy male and 4 kids had two shopping carts full of groceries including rib-eye steaks. the bill $616 paid with EBT..how many times a month do they get that? I was taught if you can't feed them don't breed them. Our welfare systems is upside down rewarding more money with more offspring.

I have also followed people out to the parking lot who used a large amount of EBT to see what they were driving..amazing!

now we are drowning in uneducated, unvetted, dangerous refugees who will not assimilate and we are paying their way. Every dollar going to refugees and illegals is a dollar not going to citizens or legal residents, it is theft by government.P> if we don't change things soon where can we move to?

our public schools are total failures not teaching home economics, budgeting, how to run a household, save money, be self sufficient, costs of offspring, etc. on top of that kids these days are ignorant of history, basic English etc but they still pass them for participation. these students are destined to being failures at life and wards of the state. It is not compassionate to not educate these people properly and give them a chance. Unintended (or intended?) consequences of liberalism.

sanity and common sense has left our politicians for greed and power. there is something in the water in DC and its called Greed.

this sad state of affairs is now reaching the boiling point.

Yes, I think we have seen people with food stamps behave in such a manner, and it is upsetting. I don’t think shaming people and losing manners with people is the best way to fight such a problem. Certainly not in the way the woman in the video carried herself. Like I said in a previous comment, many people in the country are just one job loss away from being on food stamps themselves.

I have had family members that needed them, they certainly don’t anymore.

Back in the 1960’s, I had a friend whose mother was on food stamps/welfare. Her husband had left her and the children destitute (back then there wasn't a lot of places for women to go for help).

This lady worked during the day and went to school at night. It took her years, but she got her nursing degree. By the time my friend and I were college age, her mother was running an entire floor at Kaiser Hospital.

This woman took a hand UP and then gave back.

I do not look down on all welfare recipients, but in the border state of Texas, I sure see a lot of freeloaders.

The local Mexicans sit in their trucks while their wives try to get the rented carpet cleaner in the back.

The hood grocery chains like Savealot and Compare Food pull in a huge percentage of their revenue from food stamp purchases.

And I often wondered why a place like Iowa - a supposedly conservative, farming midwestern state often votes democrat.

Then I realized that food stamps, and ethanol subsidies brings farmers a ton of money.

From his looks, that has never worked 50 or sixty hours total in his life. Let alone 50 or 60 hours a week.

I was reading the other day that we pay more per year for illegal immigrant children than the average American’s social security benefit. The social security benefit is of course earned.

My guess is that these muzzies cost us much more. Our government pays organizations (usually using some religious name) billions per year to bring them over.

I have couple of SIL’s and nieces that would have towed this idiot around the parking lot with their Harleys or SUVs after they put this rectum out for the day/night, if he said that to them. Then, they would have turned him over to their 6’5 and 6’6 husbands for a few more culture lessons in what not to say.

It IS her business. She’s paying for his groceries. So are you and I.

Yes. I know who is paying.

I just don’t think it is wise for a woman to be confrontational with a stranger. If you have a wife, I would hope you wouldn’t encourage her to be confrontational with strangers like that. It may not be safe.

Additionally, we don’t know the circumstances of that man. He may have worked for ten straight years and just got laid off. I don’t mind if he needs a few months to get back on his feet. Again, we don’t know the circumstances of this individual. To humiliate him in front of his children without knowing the circumstances would be wrong.

A woman wrote in to Ann Landers many years ago. Someone started giving her crap about buying a cake with food stamps. The woman told her it was a birthday cake for her child; the child's last one due to a terminal disease.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. Then you'll be a mile away and you'll have their shoes, too.

Is FR turning into DU?
Compassion and being a Christian is lost?
Maybe,“Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes”, is apropos at this time.

I know of people that have disabled children. They were responsible tax paying citizens most of their life but things changed. Now they need assistance. It could be the man using food stamps is a bum. I don’t know. I don’t know his situation. That is why I wouldn’t have made such comments to him.

I preferred when churches were more involved with charity. Unfortunately, our government preferred to take on that role. If they had to meet regularly with the churches, they could tell who was spending it on drugs and booze. They could tell who was honestly making an effort to find work.

Well you seem to forget that carpet is a female thing. Therefore, the carpet cleaner must also be a female thing. /s/

Many years ago my son, while he was doing his student teaching, was teamed with a classmate who was Hispanic. She invited him to Sunday dinner. Son said after dinner all four of her brothers and her father just got up from the table and left their dishes and the mess. My son started picking up dishes and headed for the kitchen and they stopped him and announced that it was woman’s work and to leave things on the table. Said he had never seen such poor behavior by guys toward their mother. At that time it was a cultural thing, but notice it is now more widespread.
