She was apparently minding her tax dollars at work.
I know of people that have disabled children. They were responsible tax paying citizens most of their life but things changed. Now they need assistance. It could be the man using food stamps is a bum. I don’t know. I don’t know his situation. That is why I wouldn’t have made such comments to him.
I preferred when churches were more involved with charity. Unfortunately, our government preferred to take on that role. If they had to meet regularly with the churches, they could tell who was spending it on drugs and booze. They could tell who was honestly making an effort to find work.
I hear what you’re saying. I recall an anecdote in “7 Habits” where a dazed and seemingly indifferent fellow allowed his kids to run amok on a train — the furious passengers didn’t realize he just lost his wife.
