Fighting Political Correctness In The Age Of Trump
Frontpagemag.com ^ | May 3, 2016 | Daniel Greenfield

When it was announced that Harriet Tubman would displace President Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, there were two sets of dramatically different reactions among Republicans on social media. One group passed around links to a National Review piece celebrating the decision to “tell the story of a deeply-religious, gun-toting Republican who fought for freedom in defiance of the laws of a government that refused to recognize her rights.”

"..they don’t want to represent states where the Confederate flag is heritage, they shouldn’t have asked for the job. The Republican Party doesn’t represent New York. It does represent Mississippi

. Good point. Real good article.

It matters far more that both moves were driven by the social media mobs of political correctness...

...Culture wars are not about actual historical facts, but a tribal conflict over culture between clashing groups. This is a conflict in which it mattered a great deal that northeastern elites were lining up to get $400 tickets to see Hamilton, a hip-hop musical praised by many of the same Republicans who wouldn’t be caught dead watching reruns of the Dukes of Hazzard. That New York theater trend led to Southerner Andrew Jackson being displaced on the currency instead of New York’s own Alexander Hamilton.

Political correctness isn’t just about politics. It’s about power. It’s about who has it and who doesn’t.

Excellent piece! It makes it very frustrating when you have many 'republicans' applauding your/our own demise. Lamenting the leftist but then supporting them and helping them destroy.

When I look at all the problems facing this country I have to admit that who is pictured on a $20 is nowhere near the top.

I did. And the culture war aspect interests me even less.

During a war a general could say he doesn't care who wins a one-on-one skirmish between one of his troops versus the enemy. He's looking at the bigger battle and the war.

But the bigger battle is really thousands of skirmishes between his troops and the enemy troops. If he loses too many skirmishes he loses the battle and eventually the war.

The progressives understand the need to fight to win every skirmish. Conservatives too often take your approach.

Defeating PC is the most important issue facing the US. The only one even standing up against it is Donald Trump.

PC seeks to control the language and more importantly the definitions of words. You cannot argue with the left because they define the terms in such a way that you will never win.

Language controls the way you think. If you control the meaning of language you control the way people think. Thus you can get people to believe that evil is good and good is evil.

As hard as this maybe for people to believe this is more important than closing the border, stopping abortion or any other issue simply because you need to use words to persuade. You cannot do that unless you have an honest language.

Exactly right, PC and or liberalism/socialism is a ratchet. Every battle they win advances the ratchet one more click. We need to win more battles!

Take the NC bathroom battle. The left in Charlotte advanced the ratchet one click when it passed an ordinance forcing everyone to participate in mentally ill peoples gender delusion. The state is fighting back very well, but in the end there will probably be a compromise because non leftist politicians almost always negotiate to find common ground ceding power to the left. The left NEVER compromises!

Once the furor goes away, the left will have gained some ground. After all, even if they don’t have their original law in place, they will have hundreds of businesses like Target openly promoting ‘open bathrooms’, acting like brownshirts shaming everyone for hating LGBT people. In NC, half of the businesses we frequent will support this crap and it will be impossible to boycott them all.

Greenfield: “Culture wars are not about actual historical facts, but a tribal conflict over culture between clashing groups.”

Thank you Mr. G. One could make the case that tribalism is resurging as Western civilization collapses. I’d call it neotribalism except it never truly went away and certainly isn’t new. More like the default. :(

Great comment and right on. PC is the biggest danger or at least tied with immigration. Think about today vs 10 years ago about what you could say or support at your place of employment without being worried about someone attacking you and getting you fired! Depending on where you work, you have to keep your mouth shut.

PC silences non socialist thought and speech!

We are about to enter The Age of Trump. We are in the post PC era. The Liberal vision has failed us and a new vision is about to be born. Let us hope its a better world and a world that will give us the hope promissed but not given by Obama. Trump may well be the uniter that Obama couldn’t be.
