Trump: 'I'd have to think about' Cruz for Supreme Court

Donald Trump had a tepid response when asked if he would consider GOP presidential rival Ted Cruz for the Supreme Court, should the businessman win the White House.

"I don't know, I'd have to think about it," Trump told the Daily Mail in an interview Monday.

"There's a whole question of uniting and there's a whole question as to temperament," Trump continued. "He's certainly a smart guy, but there's also a temperament issue.

"He's got a tough temperament for what we're talking about," Trump said. "You have to be a very, very smart, rational person, in my opinion, to be a justice of any kind."

Trump told The Washington Post that he plans to announce upward of a dozen judges from which he'd pick to fill Supreme Court vacancies.

Cruz, a former Texas solicitor general, has been mentioned by Republicans as a potential replacement to fill the vacant seat previously held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday described such a scenario as scary.

For his part, Cruz insisted in March that he was more focused on nominating justices to the court than becoming one.

Trump made his comments to the Mail as he and Cruz battle in Indiana heading into Tuesday's primary in the Hoosier State, a key opportunity to pick up more of the delegates needed to secure the nomination.

I agree to term limiting judges, but I do NOT agree with REWARDING a politician for selling out the Constitution to the Globalists. American Sovereignty is at stake. Cruz voteed for TPA. That’s enough!

Actually you missed the sarcasm which is a higher level of retort than the asinine cut downs that are the only thing Cruz supporters seem to understand.

First, Trumps sister is nearly 80 even if he wanted to suggest her she is too old.

Second, Trumps statement about her was made many years ago before he was running and appears to be the kind of general statement you say about a relative when you think it doesn’t matter.

Third, Trump is the ONLY CANDIDATE TO HAVE RELEASED NAMES OF PEOPLE THAT HE WOULD CONSIDER. GO LOOK THOSE UP. HIS SISTER WAS NOT ON THE LIST.

There are some legitimate issues that Trump needs to deal with and that could be discussed but Cruz supporters go for the cheap shot - the lie or the 1/2 truth every time.

A lot of people are starting to attempt to unite now that Trump is the presumptive nominee. Ted Cruz isn’t going to win either on a second or third ballot or even a third party run. He has burned his bridges without the help of a single trump supporter here at this forum.

You may not agree or like that fact but it is reality. Cruz is finished. If you are not happy here there is always Consistent Conservatives Forum, but I must warn you. Last time I was there the forum was more pro Trump than pro Cruz.

Good answer by Trump.

I personally hope Cruz will not get onto the Supreme Court, for many reasons.

I also don’t think Cruz would want it either. This came about because some people though this would be a valuable consolation prize for him.

I think the country — and Cruz — will be better off without him on the SCOTUS.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.....he "cares" SO much about the Constitution that he is ILLEGALLY running for the president, even though in 20p12, he knew damned well that he was INELIGIBLE to hold that position!

I thought it was pretty clear. Maybe not. I will try again. It is currently impossible on FR to hold the following two thoughts: Cruz would make an excellent Justice and Trump would make an excellent POTUS. The two are mutually exclusive. Either you have to believe that Cruz is a globalist GOPe guy drenched in Goldman Sachs money and Trump is Ronald Reagan reincarnate or Cruz is Ronald Reagan reincarnate and Trump is a Manhattan liberal running the long con. No AND gates, just OR gates.

Ronald Reagan wanted Trump to become a politician and run for president!

I knew Reagan, I worked on both of his two winning presidential campaigns, and Ted Cruz is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL LIKE RONALD REAGAN !

Why should we believe that Cruz would make a good justice? He voted for the TPA, the CORKER BILL, is INSANE Glenn Beck's BFF and is joined at the hip with him and other crazies. I wouldn't trust Cruz on any court, let alone SCOTUS!

OTOH, none of the above falls into the allusion you posted.
