I’m sure there was the same fear then as there is now, that the nomination had been ‘stolen’ from them- to suggest that this is a unique sentiment

If Trump wasn't doing as well as he is and Cruz had managed to get himself nominated at a contested convention it would be correctly seen as the result of a GOPe and Cruz conspiracy to deny the most popular candidate the nomination. That is, a stolen nomination - no scare quotes, a straight up heist in broad daylight. An act of shameless evil.

Cruz and any other modern candidate (forget about anything that happened before 1972, it has no relevance) must satisfy a bare minimal standard to have a chance of winning. They must win the most votes in the primaries. There is no other path. You can wax nostalgic about Abe Lincoln's victory at a contested convention as much as you want. That will never happen again. Modern primaries exist because the people demanded them, because we got sick of party bosses and corrupt hacks deciding for us. Those days will not return without a revolution, and lame duck Ted is not going to lead any such crusade, much as he might want to.

No one will ever forgive Ted for his egotistical and deluded effort to deny the popular candidate the nomination if he succeeds. He will be slaughtered in the general election by any Democrat. Fortunately for deluded Ted - and for the GOP and the country - he will fail.

Go Trump!

[[(forget about anything that happened before 1972, it has no relevance) ]]

Nonsense-

[[That is, a stolen nomination - no scare quotes, a straight up heist in broad daylight. An act of shameless evil.]]

Lol- ok you’re welcome to your opinion- but you are overreacting- it doesn’t matter how close the candidates are- when the rules aren’t met- it goers to contested convention- period- end of story- an no all the contested conventions were not close-

[[No one will ever forgive Ted for his egotistical and deluded effort to deny the popular candidate the nomination if he succeeds. ]]

‘Noone’ ‘’ever’ wow- some might powerful words- most peopel understand rules matter- if your opinion is that htey don’t matter- then that’s your prerogative- many woudl dissagree with you-

[[deluded Ted... shameless evil... heist in broad daylight... conspiracy... lame duck Ted... ]]

Emotional responses don’t help the argument

[[He will be slaughtered in the general election by any Democrat. ]]

Many disagree with you- Many believe trump will be made to look foolish for his usual resorting to insults while avoiding the tough questions put to him by her, the msm and the liberal debate moderators- He showed he wasn’t ready for a political fight when rubio called him on the carpet for his universal health care agenda- or lack thereof- What did trump do? He immediately hid behind insults and petty ridicule- All the debates were like that really- Only the other candidates were able to answer specifics- and you can claim he was ‘holding his cards close to his vest’ but many believe he plum didn’t have answers-

I can’t stand hilarly, and all her positions are wrong- but she is very versed when it comes to political policies- Many also believe Ted is as well- Go back and watch the debates closely- get past his catch phrases and there is very little there- He can claim all day long “I’m gonna do so and so- but without specifics, it’s just fluff meant for cheers-

Now- you have a difference of opinion on the matter- that’s fine- we’re simply going to have to disagree hopefully agreeably-

Perhaps Trump has studied up- hopefully he has- because many beleive he will get ripped to shreds politically when he has to face not just her, but the msm and liberal moderators who are all in her corner- He’d better nkow policy inside and out because she will make him look foolish if he doesn’t

Good to know you think Lincoln should have lost.

I bet you wish the South won, too...
