ANTI-Donald TRUMP Protest Erupt Near Republican Convention near Burlingame (embed video)

BURLINGAME, Calif. -- Hundreds of anti-Donald Trump protesters crowded the streets near the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame as the presidential candidate arrived for the Republican convention.

A man wearing a Trump campaign "Make America Great Again" red hat was struck while being jostled by a group of shouting protesters.

"It went gangbusters. They attacked me," said Chris Conway, who identified himself as mortgage broker from San Mateo.

A dozen protesters linked arms to block the road in front of the hotel near San Francisco International Airport, but no one was using the street because police had already closed it to traffic. Protesters also draped a large "Stop Hate" banner outside the hotel.

After Trump took the podium, he described having to take a complicated detour to get into the venue due to the rowdy protesters outside.

"That was not the easiest entrance I've ever made... it felt like I was crossing the border actually," he said.

Barricades were set up Thursday night around the Hyatt Regency, where organizers were excited that Trump was kicking off the convention. But if it's anything like Southern California's events, it could be a wild weekend.

About 20 people were arrested by Costa Mesa police Thursday night as Trump protesters and supporters took to the streets outside Orange County Fairgrounds, where the Republican presidential candidate was speaking....

At one point, seven shirtless women wearing Bernie Sanders stickers over their breasts entered the square outside the amphitheater. They said they were protesting Trump's lack of engagement on issues of gender equality and women's rights.

In Burlingame, police have spent a month planning and asked for help from every agency in the county and also state and federal officials.

Donald Trump was set to speak around 12:45 p.m. John Kasich is scheduled to speak in the evening,...

The S. S. will only put up with so much though......They will do exactly as told by the Democrat party. Trust me. If they don’t, AA is on the line and Jackson and Sharp will be called to account. But not for Taxes.

This will end when Trump wins and the DOJ is replaced. They can not allow mobs to block shopping centers (Christmas -Chicago), roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, buildings, private functions, etc.

Arrest and make them pay fines. Charge those who are violent. Indict those who fund and arrange these activities. We need change or we will lose all our freedom and be trapped inside our homes out of fear.

This is not Africa, South America, or the Middle East. No American should have to live this way.

I know that it may be my testosterone talking, but if that were to happen to me, with my wife, they’d be dead very quickly.

I would think the S. S. would have controlled access.

That would seem to be their job.

Actually, this is the best endorsement Trump could get.

These people are going to hand Trump the biggest landslide victory in US history.

I think the reporter was cut off at the end of the report...

"Tonight John Kasich will speak here. ... No protestors or supporters are expected."

Your interpretation is much more lenient than mine. I can understand the theory of crowd containment and not wanting to escalate the situation. However, these are vicious people, LEO is playing with fire, and they know it.

I don’t understand why the Hyatt would have been subject to allowing a riot on their property. Their number one responsibility is the safety and comfort of their guests. It would have been smart to have rejected trespassers. Hyatt could be held liable for injuries on their property. What about the other hotel guests? Why should they be subjected to personal risk? Why are they to be held hostage in the hotel, praying the lynch mob does not break through.

Instead of an effigy of Trump, what if they had torched the trees or the hotel? They looked liked the type of trash that wouldn’t hesitate to be flamers. The hotel had to padlock some of the supplemental entrances from the inside once the thugs broke down the barricades. How insane is that?

Anyone coincidently staying at the Hyatt and facing a mob on their property should have been demanding a free stay and police escort to one of their other properties. Riots at the Hyatt is bad for business and destroys their **** ratings.

I don’t have a problem with the way you describe it.

I view us as each filling in a bit of the details, and neither of us being particularly wrong.

It’s a nasty situation. We agree to that.

I think it should have been controlled much more than it was.

"These mobs are out of control nationwide."

The media are all in; they are encouraging this through their bland descriptions of "demonstrators" who are actually violent, intolerant thugs. They want violence, and they will blame it all on Trump.

Agreed, “It shows the inmates running the asylum.”

Things happen for a reason and hopefully businesses, LEO, and SS learn from their mistakes. This better not be replicated for the rest of these primaries or in Cleveland.

Friends who are LEO have said that for years, entire departments are being told to stand-down all over the nation. Most, but not all, conform and obey.

There should have been several fire trucks there with water cannons, or better yet an airport fire truck with a foam cannon from nearby SFO.

I would think by now some dedicated Trump supporter would attend the next event in an ordinary vehicle equipped with a passive device, like a super sound system, drown them out.

Its nothing to be armed almost anywhere, it takes brains to come up with a stealthy crowd dispersal system.

Where is the next Trump rally in CA? If a person wanted to they could find several old used fire trucks, or a hydro seeder on pickups, get a large amount of animal birthing lubricant, a super slippery mix.

Go have some fun on these anarchists, i hope they read this...

In Europe when they riot the big meetings of worldwide financiers, various influential leaders, etc. large steel store fronts come down and the they always call the rioters anarchists. They do much damage. They seem to have some organizational control and come from several countries. European LE seem to know they are coming and are prepared.

Yes the media are the complicit enablers of the thugs. And they are antagonistic. They lie and the only way around it is for folks to keep filming and uploading their real unedited live coverage.

If a person or child is on the ground getting beaten and bloodied, the MSM will continue filming and not reach out to help. They are heartless souls.

The InJustice Department has instigated this.

Folks who allowed it are panicked a guy like Trump won’t stand for it.

Can’t blame them. He won’t.

It is crucial that Trump supporters stay away from any Democratic events; the media will treat that 100% opposite of how they treat Dems invading Trump events. No matter how the media try to spin it, if we have a long hot summer of Dems attacking Trump events, the public will finally get it and see who the real thugs are.

To add on to my previous comment: Trump should get out front on this and say, “In recent weeks, supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been disrupting my campaign events with the explicit purpose of shutting them down, provoking violence, and battling with the police. I want to make it perfectly clear that I do not want my supporters to act the same way, and I want them to stay away from Democratic events like the plague, no pun intended.”

No worries. It’s doubtful any here would be caught dead at a dem rally.
