I’ve been getting mine direct deposit for years. Do people still get actual checks in the mail?
You can still get a tax refund check in the mail, yes. I do my taxes and at the end I am given the choice to efile, or send them in snail mail. When you get a refund, you can either have it direct deposited or sent to you in the mail.
15 years ago, we received our tax refund check in the mail and, as I was in the process of reorganizing my bookshelves .. at the time, I had over 2000 hardback books.. I absentmindedly placed the check inside of one of the books.
Two days later, when I realized what I had done, my late-wife and I had to tear it all apart again to find it.
And you know what they say ... when you lose something, you find it in the last place you look and, take it from me, 2000 books are a lot of last places ...
Since that time, it has been directly deposited.
“Do people still get actual checks in the mail?”
Well, apparently not as many as thought they were going to.
I’ve been using e-file through tax cut for the last 3 or 4 years. I usually get my refund within 5 working days. By check it was usually 4-6 weeks.
Yep, and I send a paper return by snail mail.
I don’t want to make it any easier to audit me or siphon my bank account dry than it already is.
What's a check?
I swear I was told no SS, no unemployment, no IRS refund without DD. The gubbmint even pays for people to have check cashing privs.
I asked during a job interview (part-time) would you like a voided check? Guy said “Why”. I said you just gave me a job, how are you gonna pay? He said something like PayChexRus. No direct deposit. I said ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’ and walked out.
I pay in to the federal beast every year.
I use Tax Act and do the whole deal on-line - I spent $30 this year for the electronic filing (the version of the S/W I use is free). Couldn't be more convenient.
