[George Will]:If Trump is nominated, the GOP must keep him out of the White House
Washington Compost ^ | 29 April 2016 | George Will

Donald Trump’s damage to the Republican Party, although already extensive, has barely begun. Republican quislings will multiply, slinking into support of the most anti-conservative presidential aspirant in their party’s history. These collaborationists will render themselves ineligible to participate in the party’s reconstruction.

Ted Cruz’s announcement of his preferred running mate has enhanced the nomination process by giving voters pertinent information. They already know the only important thing about Trump’s choice: His running mate will be unqualified for high office because he or she will think Trump is qualified.

Hillary Clinton’s optimal running mate might be Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, a pro-labor populist whose selection would be balm for the bruised feelings of Bernie Sanders’s legions. Running mates rarely matter as electoral factors: In 2000, Al Gore got 43.2 percent of the North Carolina vote. In 2004, John Kerry, trying to improve upon Gore’s total there, ran with North Carolina Sen. John Edwards but received 43.6 percent. If, however, Brown were to help deliver Ohio for Clinton, the Republican path to 270 electoral votes would be narrower than a needle’s eye. [SNIP]

Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romney’s insufficient support among women, minorities and young people. In losing disastrously, Trump probably would create down-ballot carnage sufficient to end even Republican control of the House. Ticket splitting is becoming rare in polarized America: In 2012, only 5.7 percent of voters supported a presidential candidate and a congressional candidate of opposite parties.

Time to stop this RINO BS. Hasn’t won a national election yet.

Have read FP mission statement numerous times. Agree. Why I come back.

This time . . . try to win an election who comes closest to your beliefs.

If your elected or failed candidate does not perform . . . then . . . there is the next election cycle to replace him or her.

Do what you want.

That is why I will never, ever put a Trump sticker on my truck. I don’t want some deranged leftist to key it or worse.

What you can do is look for a car with a Hillary or a Bernie sticker in a parking lot and then put a Trump sticker over the top of it. Consider it a counter measure.

I’ve been here since 2000 actually or 01....was under a diff name laid it down for some time only lurking and reading while I was raising my kids. By that time I’d forgotten my passwords so had to screen a different name. All were bad yes but not like this. This one has left a poor taste in my mouth. I’m all for passionate rigorous debate and I too am guilty of demeaning comments. Then one day I took a step back saying what the hell am I doing? I then made a conscious effort to stop so I did.

Thank you for reading, it’s nice to see someone is out there who thoughtfully reads and replies in kind

You are exactly right. That is why the importing of immigrants is not just for leftist voters, it is also happening throughout Europe and England - it is a coordinated plan by globalists to destroy the nation state. Sadly, it is working just as it did in ancient Babylon and Persia when they wanted to subdue a people.

George F. Will is certain to vote for Mrs. Bill, and I am unsure if that will be his first ever Democrat ballot, probably will.

George Will is irrelevant but the SCOTUS is very relevant. What looked like a sure victory for the R’s 18 months ago is now a toss up at best. Trump may win but there is a reason he is urging Sanders to stay in the race. He has already pretty much assured a higher turnout from the the left than a lot of other candidates would have.

But there is a way Trump can beat the beast without Sanders help. Once he beats Cruz in Indiana he will run left of center as fast as you can blink. Like he said he could shoot somebody down in the street and his current supporters would cheer him on.

So he has the ability to run left without losing much on the right. You will know this is happening when Mr. Trump begins his appeals to unions.
