NEW POLL: INDIANA GOP CONTEST A TOTAL TOSS-UP (Trump +2)
Clout Research ^ | 04/28/2016 | Clout Research

Posted on 04/28/2016 10:16:18 PM PDT by NYRepublican72

The survey of likely GOP voters statewide in Indiana shows a statistical toss-up for the Republican Party nomination for President between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, with Trump holding a 37% to 35% edge. John Kasich wins the support of 16% of voters, with 11% saying they are yet unsure for whom they will vote.

Trump wins among moderate primary voters with 39%, compared to 37% for Kasich and 18% for Cruz. Among those who consider themselves establishment conservatives – which comprised 55% of the poll sample – Trump wins 36% support and Cruz won 34% support. Among those who self-identified as supporting the ideals of the TEA Party movement, Cruz leads Trump by a 51% to 39% margin. TEA Partiers made up 25% of the poll sample.

“Our polling shows this race is a complete toss-up. After the Trump wins Tuesday in the Northeast, some have said this race for the nomination is over, but the voters of Indiana clearly have a different opinion,” said Pollster Fritz Wenzel. “Our survey shows this race will very likely come down to the final day and the final vote.”

These are the guys that got the Murdoch ousting Lugar in the Republican primary in 2012.

It was taken yesterday, the same date that Cruz named iSnarly as his potential VP.

Apparently Cruz has internal polls with him losing by 10 points and is all depressed about it, and a radio program reports that Trump is now doing internal polling in Indiana that has him winning by 20 points.

It seems like the whisper campaigning is beginning the the state. I don’t think I’ve seen a Trump release of internals anywhere this cycle outside of IN, have you?

Cruz and Kasich should already have dropped out. But with that said, they should really drop out after they get embarrassed in Indiana.

Real Clear Politics don’t seem to recognize this polling agency. There were several posts earlier that this is a Romney group and not to be believed.

Trump eschewed internals for most of the race as a waste of money (since the media do it "for free"). I suspect Manafort has demanded them now that he's working in the campaign, thus we see them in Indiana.

55% establishment conservatives? What the heck is that?

I am assuming these are the same internal polls being referred to.

Thank god too. Without that polling in NY Trump wouldn’t have spent the extra time to make sure it was a full blow out. Manafort really knows what he’s about.

Yes, although I was aware of them hours ago from a separate source. I was just now already reading that link already.

Yep since Manafort joined Trump many figured he would be running polls in select races. A few talk show hosts could tout this poll tomorrow which will be off by a lot by Tuesday when they all get depressed again. LoL.

TRUMP is going to win Indiana, hands down, I believe.

If the weather is good I think Bernie might just beat Hillary, as well.

Bill Mitchell earlier yesterday discredited this Clout poll, pointing out that it was conducted by an anti-Trump group led by a Romney man. It apparently is not recognized by RCP and other sites like Nate Silver’s 538 give it a grade of “D.”
Mitchell also led me to CNN which had a lengthy article about the gloomy mood in the Cruz campaign over their internals.
Meanwhile, I was able to track down Oma Talley’s Trump internals upon doing a twitter search. At this point, despite claims by Trump about not having polling, I have to believe Manafort must be monitoring internals.
I just pray that the respective campaign internals tell the true story of where the race stands.

I follow Nate Silver, a liberal for sure, but a pretty reliable numbers guy. He turns his nose up at this poll emphatically.

Likewise all of the demographers/pollsters I follow.

The politicos have hinted at internals of both campaigns that show the race running towards Trump at a gallop.

My own sense is this is probably correct. I watched a Cruz interview tonight, and the waves of desperation coming off him were nearly visible.

Let me put it this way. If it the poll is basically a Cruz internal and the best the pollster could do was Trump +2. Cruz is doomed.

The Conservative Treehouse has an article that links to CNN with sources inside team Cruz with the 10 point Trump lead, and also has a tweet posted from this guy from the “Kincannon-Show” who reports on the Trump internal.

But in retrospect, in response to your question, I looked at this Kincannon’s shows twitter feed and not sure if he isn’t just an online radio dude, so how can we be confident about his internal polling report?

So, until further notice, unless we see a better source, then the internal is suspect, and therefore I retract half of my post.

LoL. We've had a few of these in this election.
