John Boehner calls Ted Cruz "Lucifer in the flesh," "miserable" SOB
CBS News ^ | April 28, 2016 | Reena Flores

John Boehner sounded off a litany of insults for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz Wednesday night, labelling the Texas senator "Lucifer in the flesh" and a "miserable son of a bitch."

"I have Democrat friends and Republican friends," the former House speaker said during a frank on-stage discussion at Stanford University Wednesday. "I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life."

Boehner, who retired from Congress at the end of October, also let loose on the two other GOP candidates in the race.

Of his relationship with Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Boehner said that he was "my friend, and I love him" -- but with the caveat that Kasich "requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends."

Boehner said he was on friendly terms with Republican front-runner Donald Trump, adding that he often played golf with the New York business mogul and billing their friendship as one between "texting buddies."

The ex-congressman seemed to accept that Trump would be the party's nominee and said that he would vote for him if that prediction came to pass. Boehner said he would not, however, cast a ballot for Cruz if the Texas senator won the nomination.

Boehner also weighed in on the Democratic primary contest, according to the Stanford Daily, the university newspaper that first reported Boehner's comments. The former House speaker praised Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders as the most honest politician in the White House race. Of Clinton, who he has known for 25 years, Boehner called her accomplished and smart.

Well, he would have to work with all those in both houses of congress if he were president, and he doesn’t have a good record of “playing well with others”. If he uses his scorched earth tactics when he IS government-owned, he’ll win nothing. And neither will America.

But he has had a YUGE impact on voters’ impressions. I’ll give him that.

“he doesn’t have a good record of “playing well with others”.

What? This is exactly the rub on Cruz in the Senate.
And Trump didn’t build a $10 billion company by being non-cooperative.

Wow. You managed to insult both Jim Robinson and a huge chunk of this forum's patrons all at once. If you don't like where you are, get the hell out, knob.

First off he never insulted Jim, he insulted those who always attack Cruz with baseless attacks. I have never seen Jim attack anyone with anything but the facts.

So other than claiming he insulted Jim, I agree with him newbie

“It used to be on FR that any friend of JB was an enemy of the conservative movement.”

There’s no love for JB anywhere on this site. NO ONE cares one way or the other What JB says. He’s just one big yawn!

We already know that Cruz is not a popular personality in the Senate for a variety of reasons. Dislike of Cruz doesn’t mean love for his other detractors.

Even blind pigs like JB find truffles.

You also get there by any tactics that work, including bullying and dirty tricks. He’s never been known for his “gregarious” nature, except when it suits him. He can be vicious.

Come to think of it, maybe he would make it as a politician. :)

Vicious I think is a bit too strong, that implies dysfunctionality or crimininality.

He’s tough but fair, and that’s all he asks of others.

I’ve witnessed viciousness against nearly every other candidate, especially those that threaten him in any way.

He can’t do that kind of stuff to another world leader. It might be what we’re all thinking but he Would have to learn diplomacy.

Ted Cruz would never talk to one of the world players like Trump does other people. Trump makes me very uncomfortable, as I’ve said. But he’s in it and we’ll see how it ends. Well for all of us, I hope. NO Hitlery.

To all the somnolent critics here. TRUMP IS CLEANING CRUZ’S CLOCK. IF CRUZ CAN’T BEAT TRUMP, HOW THE HELL WILL HE BEAT HILLARY???

The only two words for Cruz are dilusional and pathetic. The voters are picking Trump. He will be the nominee.

We will have to choose between an insane, criminal, lying, Marxist, anti-gun clone of Barrack Hussein Obama or Trump. That’s not me, that’s the facts talking . Despite his faults, Trump loves America, can help the economy, has no obligation to the special interests which have been controlling the GOPe, is pro-life and pro-Second Amendment, will defend the border, build a wall, deport illegals, deal with Islamists, protect Christianity and defy PC rhetoric.

If that’s not ENOUGH for you critics, and you don’t get it, there isn’t any logic you can understand.

You can stay home or vote third party like you purists did in 2008 and 2012. HOW DID THAT WORK OUT??????????

All that being said, I’ve enjoyed the civil discourse about our candidates. No minds will be changed, but it has been refreshing to not get bashed for not thinking the same way. :)

If we can’t be civil here on OUR forum, then that leaves us no place else to go. So, thank you.

Has anyone checked the drunken suntan man’s eyesight? Lucifer is a friend of his, probably a golfing and drinking buddy of his. AND Ted Cruz is no Lucifer as Boehner well knows. Was there a mirror in front of Boehner when he said this? Did it even reflect his image? Break out the Holy Water and douse him.

You’re welcome. I always keep it rational. That said, I saw Ted on Megyn Kelly last night. He said, (watch the tape), Donald cannot reach 1237. Megyn quizzically said, what if he wins Indiana and California? Won’t happen he said.

This is how he gets his reputation as a liar. To say Trump cannot reach 1237 is a lie. It’s a good positive affirmation for his campaign if you’re into that sort of thing, but such statements don’t correspond to reality.
