"He voted against his own amendment, arguing that anyone who favored it would be siding with the administration.
But Hunters gamble that committee members would shy away from forcing women into the draft backfired when a slim majority including five Republicans opted to endorse the measure by a vote of 32 to 30.
Maybe next he should put a gun to his head and see if the other ACME Useful Idiots in congress will pull the trigger on that too.
Give the women all the equality they deserve.
My daughters will not be participating due to a sincerely held religious belief. You do to me or them what you will, we must follow the biblical injunction to provide defense for our daughters. My daughters simply won’t be forced to register. God’s judgment upon an immoral people is happening.
For Selective Service to pass Constitutional muster, it must be gender neutral - or eliminated. I vote for the latter. I am amazed that a male has not challenged his loss of Federal benefits because of not registering as an Equal Protection violation.
Yes, and the Baltimore Ravens will take her in the second round.
Do it, force Obama to show his two faced self if he vetoes the bill. You want equality, this is a big step in that direction. All or none.
Feminazis want equality? this would give them equality. Also, registering with selective service must apply to all. Currently it applies only to males, making the law invalid because of discrimination.
Can’t have it both ways, gals.
What happens if someone has a “sex change” operation around age 18? A male lops his weewee off and calls himself a woman. Does he/she/it have to register for selective service?
What a bunch of Maroons!
Put women under the same requirement as men, or remove the requirement completely.
Either way, I’m fine. .
High and tight haircuts, ladies!
How can I say this? Well, I came from a time when there was a draft (for males only). You could go to college and maintain a “C” average to keep your 2S student deferment; but if you dropped to a “D”, you were reclassified 1A and subject to induction. The alternatives were to join either the Reserves or National Guard.
Both Reserves and National Guard required that you go to the full service recruit training (boot camp) of 12 weeks. As a member of either Reserves or National Guard, you were not draft eligible because you were already in the military. In the case of Reserves, you could complete your college and then do two year's active duty -- provided you maintained a "C" average, otherwise you'd be sent on active duty. The National Guard required a minimum of 6 months active duty (longer if there was a school involved) and the rest of your enlistment was for a total of six years of mandatory drills (1 weekend a month plus 2 weeks' training a year). Reservists did 2 years active duty, 3 years of mandatory drills, and 1 year of inactive service (no drills) for a total of six years.
Well they’ll be registering, but we’re not drafting anybody.
