For the record, Cruz' naming his VP pick smacked of desperation. I'm still with Ted, at least until Trump reaches 1237.
He's reminding me of the scene in "The Replacements" where Keanu Reeves' character metaphorically speaks of quicksand.
Just my opinion, but Trump supporters would be well advised to focus on unifying the party, versus savaging Kasich and Trump supporters.
Here's my personal perspective as a guide: I was awarded a 4 year ROTC scholarship. Two days after I told a few "friends", I spent my last two months on campus as an outcast, enduring the same colorful language used by Freepers for Trump. I teacher I respected told me to my face how "disappointed" he was with my decision.
Upon graduation, I shook the dust off my feet, and have never returned. I see the same thing happening with longtime Freepers who have been banned from this site.
When the election is over, are these rabid Trump supporters going to hang around? The answer to that question will either lead to FR's epitaph, or to its continued success. I fear the former, and hope for the latter.
Trump is a force of positive energy.
His positive pro-America agenda is bringing millions of new people and vitality into politics. Some of these new people are making their way to FR.
Although Jim had expressed earlier in the year his concerns about how this primary may have a negative effect on FR, it turns out he need not worry.
For every old timer who's been zotted or self-zotted, fresh new blood is replacing them. With Neil's declaration of dropping financial support, I've seen at least three new FReepers pledging to more than make up for the loss.
Rabid? You want to talk rapid, let me know when Teddy has taken incoming like the following.
"Fact-checking Donald Trump is like picking up after a dog with diarrhea."
-- Stephen Hayes, Weekly Standard, on Fox News (See "A is for Ape")
"Most of them [Trump supporters] are childless single men who masturbate to anime.
Theyre not real and political players. These are not people who matter in the overall
course of humanity."
-- GOP consultant Rick Wilson on MSNBC, reported January 20, 2016
I have been on FR since 2007 and am a Trump supporter. What you are conveniently forgetting is that a lot of this anger and “language” started with the Cruz supporters. At first, I tried to engage them on an intellectual level, only to be referred to as a “cultist”, “trumptard”, “trumpanzee”, etc. I soon found out that there is no realistic way to have a substantive discussion with a large majority of them. You wonder why FR Trump supporters are this way? Look no further to a large majority of FR Cruz supporters.
Cruz has been treated with kid gloves compared to Trump, even here at FR.
