Donald J. Trump Foreign Policy Speech

Thank you for the opportunity to speak to you, and thank you to the Center for the National Interest for honoring me with this invitation.

I would like to talk today about how to develop a new foreign policy direction for our country – one that replaces randomness with purpose, ideology with strategy, and chaos with peace.

It is time to shake the rust off of America’s foreign policy. It's time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold.

The direction I will outline today will also return us to a timeless principle. My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people, and American security, above all else. That will be the foundation of every decision that I will make.

America First will be the major and overriding theme of my administration.

But to chart our path forward, we must first briefly look back.

Is Trump the ONLY pol who has connected the growth of nation-states with the flourishing of our civilization? That was AWESOME. It's a strong condemnation of what Merkel and the EU are doing to Europe, with an historical context.

Trump is AWESOME. He even makes a foreign policy speech mind boggling captivating. Add to that, he didn't do any pandering.

I’m at work so I couldn’t watch & had to read the transcript. I don’t even know where to begin....there was so much that I’ve been thinking/feeling for a long time. Trump articulated all the problems I see better than I could’ve ever imagined.

I’d have to say the part about spreading Western values might be my favorite. I am sick to freaking death of these idiot A hole globalists who want to apologize for who & what we are as a nation.

Agree 1 million percent. Western civilization has been the solution to the human condition. These idiots who seem compelled to apologize for that need to STFU

He declared sovereignty as the highest form of happiness (words to that effect - I was home due to the Passover holiday taking a shower listening to the speech at that point) and that the USA will never surrender sovereignty to some EU like system under Trump.
I was banging on the shower wall like Henry Hill did in the movie Goodfellas when he heard on the news the Lufthansa heist happened but instead of “Jimmy!!” I was yelling “Trump!!” and my wife thought I slipped and fell in the shower and was calling for help! LOL!

That defense of sovereignty set off every intellectual pleasure center in my brain like fireworks. I am still high off hearing it.

Sounds just like Trumps rally speeches, sounds like he wrote it. Very much more detailed, 45 minutes, but vintage DJT.

Not much new here just restated. For those who said he hasn’t been specific he has said much of this before a piece at a time. They need to pay attention more.

They aren’t as much “compelled to apologize for it” as they do outright oppose it because it is based on the Law given by Yahweh.

He outlined a course for American greatness again

Not only that. The way it was framed, he was lending support to those in Europe who strive to end the EU and reassert nation-states.

Trump sounded like the leader of the free world, with the vision and clarity that just might turn things around.

I have been reading how “Dead White Men” are to blame for all the ills of the world. Then we let the other cultures have a shot and they start opening slave markets and beheading infidels. Western civilization or bust!

It was stuff he’s been saying at his rallies. It’s just been formalized.

I agree with your analysis. Also I note with interest your analogy with the EU. Why would sovereign and free people give up their self direction to the EU? I strongly urge the wonderful English people to throw off the yoke of the EU in June with great vigor and return to sovereign nationhood where you control YOUR government and someone else’ s government doesn’t control YOU!!Go Trump.

Very Libertarian speech. We ain’t going to be the worlds policeman, no nation building, no mention of endless interfering in Israel’s sovereignty, no forcing one sided concessions on Israel, while we keep pumping money into the PLO and Hamas.

Nato and Asian countries need to pay up for their defense.

Economic realities have changed our priorities.

Sober speech a CEO would make

Got to get your little dig in, right bright brain.

No. Whoever wrote it did a very good job and Trump should rely on them more often. The problem now is that as Trump speaks off the cuff at upcoming rallies and interviews he's bound to contradict what he said in the speech on one point or another. Don't think the media won't jump on that.

Western civilization.

The willingness to defend and promote Western Civilization—its values and institutions—is what has been missing from American politics.

Trump has nailed stripped away the chatter and zoned in on THE problem.

I think Trump wrote it.

I highly doubt that. Trump used a speechwriter for his AIPAC speech and he almost certainly used one for this. But whoever it is, Trump almost certainly signed off on him/her and he chose wisely. They did a very good job for him.

EXACTLY! << “since Reagan”! >>

Expect the media to have a cow, begin a general election assault against him today, and stir social chaos to stop him.

TRUMP hit a nerve.

That’s what happens when a man is a FORCE and a threat to the Left.

Nothing to fear but fear itself, and TRUMP just keeps moving at a pace too fast to be stopped.
