Again, the only crime he’s been prosecuted for is withdrawing money in amounts under 10k at a time... The abuse has never been charged or convicted of... NOt excusing him, but basically they are using this law to seek punishment for other things they cannot prosecute, which to me comes across as a perversion of the system.

Reluctantly agree with you.

a perversion of the system.

I fully agree. If we are to be a nation of laws, sentencing must be only for crimes charged and convicted. Now, if we could only get some of the dirty Dems before the bench.

Heh, perverts of all sorts involved here. Had he been a ‘rat, he’d have a medal for diversity or something.

The purpose of reporting large cash transactions is to uncover crimes. So the system worked as designed.

Boo-Hoo. He was Speaker of the House and a big Drug War supporter, so let him rot. Hoist on his own petard.

The system is a perversion of the system, as often as not.

It's why OJ is still in jail.

I don't mind a judge taking into account how bad a person is for other things they have done in sentencing him to a punishment that is legal under the law. The term he got is permitted by the laws he violated.

Total perversion but where the tax case against a Chicago mobster lead us naturally to.

The Law is sometimes, often actually, an Ass.

Which is what tells us they could slap the cuffs on Hillary in a New York minute - but "peasant law" doesn't apply to our Masters...

Hastert should have got him some "insurance", like Jon Corzine...

This is true, and it wouldn't be done to a popular Democrat.
