Soo, if Ted really believes that doctrine as his dad’s been preaching, it’d be surprising for him to quit. From the dominionist perspective he’s been cast in, he’s on a sort of crusade - and no party windmill will be left un-tilted at.
If you read the rest of the LCMS paper linked above, you’ll see the scriptural refutation of his case is pretty clear.
