Trump: Sanders should run as independent
POLITICO ^ | April 26, 2016 | NICK GASS

Suggesting that Bernie Sanders has been treated unfairly by the Democratic Party, Donald Trump on Tuesday said that the Vermont senator should abandon his run for the Democratic nomination and instead seek an independent path to the White House.

"Bernie Sanders has been treated terribly by the Democrats — both with delegates & otherwise," Trump tweeted. "He should show them, and run as an Independent!"

Sanders and his campaign have indicated that the senator, who was still listed as an independent on his Senate website as early as this month, will continue to be a Democrat in future elections.

After Hillary locks this up, the LAST thing Trump wants is for Bernie supporters to go to her side.

She’ll choose Warren to hopefully get some of them, but that’s a tar-baby on it’s own.

Trump is smart to plant seeds of discord in the D party. I would love to see (and I am sure we will) the Bern-Outs protesting her convention and all of her campaign stops. When they sober up from their drug induced buzz and realize that Bernie is not the nominee, it’s going to get real interesting.

They are not going to be too happy being roped off 2 blocks from the events, no matter how the media will try and ignore them.

Twitter and the internet have evolved into quite the political machine now, and that cat is out of the bag. The media, no matter how much it tries, just can no longer control the exchange of ideas.

As long as Trump keeps 10% of the dems from voting for Hillary out of support for Bernie, and if he picks up another 5% of the Bernie folks to his side, Hillary is toasted.

She will be reduced to government employees voting for her (and some of them will be GOPe types).

That would be a sly move if Bernie COULD be encouraged to run third party.

Every vote he would get comes at the expense of Herself.

Project Chaos taken to its ultimate level of play.

And terrific payback for Ross Perot ‘92.

Hell, I’d send Bernie a little money if he would make a third-party run.

It shows that Trump doesn't believe his own propaganda that Sanders supporters will go to Trump rather than hillary.

No it doesn't. It gives Democrats an opportunity to destroy hillary themselves. If Sanders went third party, Trump wouldn't need all that many of those voters to defeat hillary.

I’ve always said that if Bernie were to do an Independent Bid that I would contribute $100 to his campaign even if I disagree with almost everything he says!! The thought of defeating Hilary by having a REAL third party run from her LEFT would be a dream come through!!

If Bernie can do this, and syphon votes away from hillary, it would be good for us come November.

Sanders could run a write-in campaign. It worked for Mur-cow-ski in Alaska.

Trump never said all supporters and kudos to Trump for playing with the Democrats. The establishment are dead ender regimists.

We can dream can’t we? He won’t do it. He’s already said he would back the DNC nominee.

Gotta hand this one to Trump. When all us mere spectators are stumbling around like survivors of a train wreck, he's still in there swinging.

He's right of course. Bernie, the "independent" candidate on the far, far, far away from normal left has been getting the same kind of treatment by the Democrat "Establishment" as Trump's been complaining about from the GOPe. And Bernie isn't even a real Democrat. He's held office as an independent, and if there is one word to describe him, he is independent.

He doesn't need the Democrat "Establishment", they are all firmly committed to Hillary and Bernie's running neck on neck with the Wicked Witch without their help.

Many people have been speculating that Trump might run as an independent if he didn't win the nomination. Now Trump has dumped the same boogieman on Hillary's campaign.

I get the feeling that Trump's just having fun with this, and I can't wait to see how many avid Bernie fans take the bait and start pushing for him to run separately as an independent.

“Keep at it Trump. You may completely destroy the Democrat party and the Republican establishment in one election.”

Not only the, Trump may be the only one who destroy the Clinton AND the Bush political dynasties! At least he can lessen their grip.

Go Trump!

I think I’ll start whispering in my Brother-In-Law and Sister-In-Law’s ears. I already told them Hillary would steal the nomination from Bernie.

“I would love to see him go to work on Congress and the rest of the corrupt government for 8 years!!! “

The operative word is WILL not WOULD! Why to you think the GOP “leadership” are crapping their pants?

If Trump does win bet Obama will leave the country permanently before President Trump gets his first situation briefing. Qatar is the rumor.

He is making it as difficult as possible for Hillary to unite the Dem Party. Smart politics.

Who would win in a 4-way split? Trump and Sanders as write-in indies (both easy to spell) against Hillary and the Repub, I guess Cruz. I’d like to see some serious analysis on the results from that line-up.

This is the primary popular vote so far, giving the edge to Clinton if all these voters carry over to the general. The question is where do the non-party affiliated people vote in November? And do any of these voters switch?

Clinton 10,404,655
Trump 8,722,467
Sanders 7,710,382
Cruz 6,389,500

Even churches expect donations for membership. I don’t think requiring a minimal membership fee to join a party is out of the question.
