Monday, Houston veterinarian Kristen Lindsey appeared in court to address the complaint against her, according to Lorris Jones with the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

Lindsey is accused of killing a cat in 2015 and then bragging about it on Facebook. The social media post shows Lindsey holding up the cat by the arrow she shot it with. Along with the image of the dead cat, Lindsey posted “My first bow kill, LOL.” The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners was in attendance at the court. Critics want the board to pull her veterinary license.

First shot? It was prolly the neighbor cat that simply stood there wondering what was going on. Stupid biotch!

Agreed, if she thought it was rabid or feral. There was not enough info in the article to know.

Arrow to a head is pretty quick. Good shot too.

Anyone who has lived in the country has had to put down an animal or two, be it distemper, rabies or a cat that was hit by a car and has a broken back. It is just reality that one can avoid when one lives in a suburb and you replace children with animals.

I’m not buying that story.

Nor am I! First off, the arrow is a target arrow, not a hunting broadhead that real hunters would use.

Second, she's wearing finger guards which would indicate she was shooting targets with a typical target bow, likely with the person who took the photo.

Looking at the actual untouched photo, she shot the cat right in its forehead and based on the line of flight, and the accuracy of the shot, it was probably sitting on the ground looking at her maybe just 10 feet away.

Last but not least, and more importantly, the cat WAS NOT feral. In fact, according to the article below, it was friendly and well known to all the neighbors in that area...........

Kristen Lindsey – 5 Facts you need to know

And there is this article:

Court documents show the veterinarian admits to killing cat, contradicts her original defense that it had rabies.

Most veterinary clinics today subscribe to the philosophy of Trap, Neuter and Release.....TNR...of feral cats. That allows them the live out their natural lives in the wild but not reproduce.

Evidently Ms. Lindsey does not subscribe to that philosophy.........

I am just sick of people who want animals to be people.. they aren’t they are animals.

I love my pets, I do, and as much as it would hurt me if something happened to them, if they would wind up killed by someone, I won’t in and of that call it CRUELTY... I would certainly not be happy, but CRUELTY means something very specific.

I agree, I don’t think you could get a more clean kill that what that looks like it is. Certainly doesn’t appear that the animal was tortured etc. The woman was not charged with animal cruelty by authorities, and rightly so.

Now, I can’t know what went on in her mind, but being she’s a vet, which is a career that takes a long term dedicated effort to achieve, I am hard pressed to believe on its face that this woman decided to just go out and kill an animal without cause.

I swear humanity has gone insane... Animals are not people and people are not gods. If it turns out this cat belonged to someone they can seek remedy in the courts, but generally speaking this doesn’t remotely appear to be a case of cruelty.

She killed a feral cat she believed was rabid, this is not a crime, nor is it cruelty... looks like a clean kill.

It was NOT a feral cat and she changed her story about it being rabid..........In fact, she violated every protocol required of handling an animal suspected of being rabid. Such protocol that is taught in every veterinary school in America........

This is about peoples damned emotions not logic.

This is about FACTS, which you are clearly ignorant of...........

I took all kinds of heat a few years ago on FR. Somebody posted a story about two stray dogs that fell through the ice in Minnesota. By the time the Fire Department got there, one had frozen to death and the other had severe hypothermia.

I said something about besides being a good training exercise, the more humane thing to do would be to dispatch the animals quickly and safely from shore.

Apparently, my idea was not appreciated.

The muslims are coming - and they are going to eat, fat, rich, stupid, insulated Americans.

Maybe this lady can shoot them with her bow and arrow?

So she says. As it turns out the cat was not feral and did not have rabies and she didn't claim that until after she was fired and before she went before this board. So why should we believe her?

Please, that’s a clean kill, couldn’t get much cleaner than that.. right through the brainpan, that animal didn’t suffer so the claim of “CRUELTY” is nonsense. So much so, even the DA’s office did not charge her.

I know some folks who have pets can’t seem to separate their emotional attachment to their pets and every other animal on the planet of the same type. However the reality is, they are animals, and property. You may not like what this woman did, but to claim “cruelty” is absurd... that cat was dead before it hit the ground.

You are outraged a cat was killed, and if that cat was someone’s pet, then they can seek remedy in the courts for their loss of property, but there is no way you can say that cat suffered or that this was “cruelty”.

I’ve had to deal with rabid animals, and I can tell you, I don’t give a damn what some vet schools protocol says when I am looking eye to eye with a rabid animal, it will be put down with prejudice every time. In fact the one time I decided to let the proper authorities handle it, I was told they had left the office and would not be back until monday.... needless to say, I did not wait for them to call me back.

Most states allow the killing of nuisance animals, provided the animal is not owned by someone else.. I am sure there are states where this is an exception. However, given the DA’s office clearly chose not to prosecute, its hard to make the case this woman engaged in cruelty, even by the laws of her state.

To call this “cruelty” is beyond silly to my mind. May not like it, may not agree with her decisions, but had that been a raccoon or a groundhog on the end of that arrow no one would be saying 2 cents about it... its simply the fact its a cat that has got some folks panties in a bunch.. because all they see is their precious fluffy.

“I think there is a statistic that shows all serial killers started their careers by torturing and murdering animals.”

Not quite. There was a theory proposed back in the 60s that this was one of three behaviors (the other two being bedwetting and pyromania) that could be indicators of future violent/sociopathic behavior. That theory has not held up well to scrutiny over the years, but it is embedded in the popular imagination so people still think it is true.

Yes, and we always get on FR a few nut posts advocating killing cats and dogs with impunity.

Not one person said that a cat or dog is more important then a person.

“If she had posted a pic with her first wild game kill, I would have no problem with that (although PETA would).”

I remember she initially claimed it was a feral cat, but then it turned out to belong to a neighbor. It seems to me anyone looking at the animal (especially a vet) should know that isn’t a feral cat.

Yes, it is cruelty and the fact that they are animals means they feel pain.

But everytime there is a an animal cruelty issue nuts like you show up to argue that it isn't, as if animals are pieces of furniture.

Let me hit you with reality, killing a cat with a bow and arrorw is cruelty by any normal definition of the word.

I agree that cats should be kept indoors, unless they are on a farm.

But guys like you will be on these threads defending every and all abuses to animals, including dog fighting.

Any vet knows not to handle a dead bleeding rabid animal like that. Proof positive she knew it wasn’t rabid and is a liar.

And there are always those who come on these threads who want to lecture us on the fact that animals aren't human as if we don't know that!

Interesting that criminal's usually begin by abusing animals!

Your inability to grasp distinctions between a something being non human and still having feelings is quite amazing and disturbing.

But, as I said, also there is a strain in conservatism (which shows up on FR) that thinks animal cruelty is noble.
