NASCAR has decided to openly oppose the North Carolina bathroom law, according to a Motorsport report. The law forbids people from using the public bathrooms of the opposite sex in government buildings.
At this week’s 2016 Associated Press Sports Editors Meeting, NASCAR Chairman Brian France said his sport is “working behind the scenes” to change the controversial law.

I gave up on NASCAR right after Dale Earnhart died. It’s big effing circus with rules changes to make sure tnat nobody really wins. “Stock Cars?” Go out and try to find a Toyota Coupe with a front-moiunted pushrod V8 and rear wheel drive. At least Ford, GM and Chrysler actually make V-8’s for passenger cars. The “Toyota pushrod V8,” is made in Los Angeles. And Toyota managed to make this engine with a Chevrolet bellhousing mounting flange so they didn’t have to go to the troble of making a special part. All-American Sport with a Japanese car, that’s the ticket!

A couple of years ago, they closed the Superstretch stands at Daytona for the summer race. Don’t know why they did it. Oh, yeah. Could it be the 100 deg temps and always a very good chance of rain? Add to that, restrictor plate racing. That’s exciting! /S

Working behind the scenes to drive a stake through what’s left of NASCAR’s heart. It’s in pretty bad shape now, I couldn’t believe how empty the stands were at Bristol last week.
The only reason they aren’t ripping out bleachers like the other tracks is because the big college football game there this fall is sold out.
When I first started watching NASCAR races they drove actual cars like those on the streets but beefed up to handle the demands of the race track.
Over the years at different times they drove cars from Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, Plymouth, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Mercury, Hudson, AMC, Henry J, Studebaker, Chrysler, Lincoln, Nash.
Now the cars are boring - Designed by a committee, all the same bodies, distinguished only by different paint and decals.

You make a good point. However the safety factor has increased tremendously. I give them a lot of credit for that.
