Here's Donald Trump's path to the magic number he needs to win the GOP nomination

ALBANY — The head investigator for the state Board of Elections probed the 2014 fundraising efforts by Mayor de Blasio and his team on behalf of the Senate Democrats and found enough “willful and flagrant” violations to warrant a criminal referral to the Manhattan DA’s office.

The Daily News obtained a bombshell memo state Board of Elections Chief Enforcement Officer Risa Sugarman sent to the board’s four commissioners on Jan. 4 recommending the referral.

“I have determined that reasonable cause exists to believe a violation warranting criminal prosecution has taken place,” Sugarman wrote. “The violations discovered by this investigation can only be described as willful and flagrant.”

It's delusional to think that stealing the nomination would go down well. In history, do you know when folks are most likely to rise up? When they're given some hope of a better future but it seems to be slipping away from them.

Smartest thing the party elite could do is to cede the nomination and salvage as much as they can from what's left of the Republican Party. If they'd actually get off their thrones and interact with the voters (as Trump has) they'd "get it" that their voting fodder is mad as *ell.

The only reason Trump ran was to split the party and help Hillary. If Trump is denied the nomination many of his democrat and independent voters will vote for Hillary or simply not vote. It is inevitable. Better to amputate the cancer now and start fresh without the angry moderates like Trump, Perot and Buchanan.

As for Cruz if we have to sacrifice his political career for the Conservative cause so be it. We’ll find another TRUE Conservative to run.

“Trump has the highest negatives of any Presidential candidate in decades with Hillary only slightly behind”

Media generated. No way in the world Trump could be leading everywhere if his favorability was so low. He won 58% of the women in the state of NY. Americans from every walk of life live in NY, from every state in the union. The man they constantly say can’t win is the one that can win. Never forget that. Reagan was also called an idiot by the media, just a washed up actor. He was also “trailing” Carter by 24 points in six months out of the election in 1980.

That sounds more like a recipe for a revolution than a nomination...

Chicanery after someone earns 1237 at the ballot box is 3rd world banana republic stuff.

All the math points to Trump earning the nom.

If Cruz tries a floor fight after that - I predict, but do not endorse, mayhem.

It’s likely over come Tuesday.

You might be the first person in my life I have ever heard call Pat Buchanan a moderate.

Trump had fewer votes in New York than Cruz had in Wisconsin.

This is for everyone on this thread. It will get ugly in Cleveland. Doesn’t matter the nominee or how that nominee is nominated. I expect a combination of Republicans in 1964 and 1976 and democrats in 1968. The acceptance speech will be short because the losing side won’t allow the winner to speak. I can see fist fights and cuss matches. And that is just inside the Convention Hall. Outside will be Hillary’s and Bernie’s goons. I predict bloodshed.

I saw those interviews on Judge Jennine. At least Charlie Black admits he supports Kasich. However that Goeas character is a real piece of work. Also that Philadelphia delegate she had on was another piece of work. God help us in Cleveland if the delegates are like that guy.

“If the Never-Trump forces have the delegates to change the rules before the Convention begins, they will.

All’s fair in love, war and politics.”

Maybe so. However the majority of people do not see it that way. They want the people to vote for all the delegates. All this BS by the Republican club is being exposed and it is not a pretty sight.

“Care to guess who will after the second or third vote?”

Mitt Romney.

“How so? Every time I try I can’t get him above 1205.”

So in your mind if Trump is at 1205 he does not deserve the nomination and someone else should get it. I will tell you what, if that is what happens you can say hello President Hillary Clinton. That will turn off a lot of voters.

Cruz is in desperation mode at this point. After next Tuesday its over. He can either drop out or become public enemy number one with GOP voters.

“If the rules are changed it won’t matter if Trump has 1400 first ballot votes.”

Say hello to President Hillary Clinton.

“It just occurred to me that if Hillary wins, Cruz would be the one blamed for all the problems America will face.”

That is a good point. Cruz has allowed himself to be the puppet of the GOP and they will throw him under the bus at the first opportunity.

You are right, as someone already said, “The only thing this guy has got going for him is the voters!”

I agree it’s going to come down to the unbound delegates. You know there is going to be ton of pressure on those delegates to go for and against Trump.

And before people complain saying that’s not fair...keep in mind Trump is going to be one of those putting pressure on them as well.

“It’s sweet that you think primary voters matter.”

And there in lies the problem with the majority of the voters. If Trump is at 1205 in delegates and does not get the nomination there will be Hell to pay. It will be the end of the GOP as we know it.

I am really confused as the text in the op is talking about Criminal activity by de Blasio And not talking about trump. The text at the article link does not match.

It seems only a few of us have noticed this?
