Needs to be hammered, and then bring up the facts about 0bunghole and bring him down.

Giving him a pass has created a terrible - nationa destroying - precedent. They have many eery similarities, one is refusing to divulge any documents other than birth certificates - in 0’s case, a forged one of course, and forged selective service. I think Cruz may have shown a ss card or document, can’t remember. But refuses to show anything else, or of his mother, who may not have been a US citizen at the time of Cruz’ birth. If she was not a US citizen, then Cruz was not born a US citizen at all.

No, that is not what NBC means. What you describe is the doctrine cobbled together by birthers who were determined to find a formula that disqualified Barack Obama regardless of what his birth certificate ultimately said. (And yes, I understand that Hillary partisans started the birther argument, and BO lit the fuse by stonewalling.) Now Trump partisans are looking for a formula to disqualify Cruz.

I believed during the Obama birther controversy, and I believe now, that NBC means "citizen at birth, under the laws that obtain at the time." If we spin out the hypotheticals, any other position promptly drowns us in absurdities. The position I've sketched is simple, robust, and coherent. It's workable. The others aren't.

Just for the record, the Constitution doesn't actually define NBC, so it's a legitimate political question best left to the people and the Congress. I would be surprised if any court were willing to touch it, especially in the context of an election campaign.

You “believe” and your belief does not make it so. Precedent shows the meaning of NBC.
