Go ahead, Donald, get 1,237; it won't matter: RNC delegate
CNBC ^ | April 22, 2016 | Lori Ann LaRocco

Donald Trump may be the only Republican presidential candidate who can realistically hit the magic 1,237 number for the majority of delegates, but according to a senior Republican National Committee official that does not mean he will become the GOP presidential nominee.

Curly Haugland, a longstanding RNC official and an unbound delegate from North Dakota who will be on the convention rules committee in July, told CNBC that attaining 1,237 during the primaries does not secure the nomination.

"Even if Trump reaches the magic number of 1,237 the media and RNC are touting, that does not mean Trump is automatically the nominee," Haugland said. "The votes earned during the primary process are only estimates and are not legal convention votes. The only official votes to nominate a candidate are those that are cast from the convention floor."

More proof of a corrupt GOP.

More proof that the GOPe has no respect for the voters and apparent "members" of the party.

More proof that Cruz is just another GOPe dirtbag and those who still back Cruz are a fifth column opposed to the people and the American dream.

Not only that, the RNC had better think about the down ticket, if they cheat Trump out of the nomination if he has 1237 delegates. I do not think they have a clue about how fed up people really are, not only with them, but with congress. Looking at how little the GOP congress has actually accomplished, we might as well let the democrats have it.

Patriots are reminded that constitutionally undefined political party presidential nominating conventions have practically nothing to do with the Founding States’ procedure for electing a president as enumerated in the Constitution.
”Article II, Section 1, Clause 2: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

12th Amendment: The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; ..."

The political parties are only not defined by the Constitution, but they exist to control 10th Amendment-protected state powers and associated state revenues that the corrupt Washington cartel has been stealing from the states since the end of the Civil War, and arguably since the administration of President George Washington imo.

In fact, note that one of the very few powers that the states have actually delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, to decide domestic policy is to regulate, tax and spend for the US Mail Service (1.8.7).

So a key question concerning the political parties is, how many political parties does it take to manage the US Mail Service?

I say none.

Remember in November !

If patriots elect Trump, Cruz, or whatever conservative they elect, they will also need to elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to not only support the president, but also surrender back to the states state powers and state revenues that the corrupt feds have been stealing from the states.

In fact, note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.

I truly believe if the Establishment effort is successful, the Republican Party will be over.

As you indicated, I believe the backlash would be so extreme, many would vote for anyone not Republican as a means to punish. Additionally, contributions would dry up. It's foreseeable that some remaining elected Republicans would leave the party.

Believing this to be the case, will they really go through with their threat? Time will tell.

Yeah, he’s just blowing smoke. His view of the delegates roll at the convention isn’t anywhere near accurate. A regular Boss Hogg.

Curly is an extremist and his personality is not conductive to convincing others to follow his lead. The RNC is not looking for complete insurrection or WWIII at the convention. Curley is not representative of the delegates’ mindset. He’s way past his expiration date and deserves the boot.

The live video of the RNC Rules meeting to FR yesterday as a thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StvOymnxeB0

Solomon Yue (OR) proposed the RNC recommend Robert’s Rules of Order to the convention committee rather than “kicking the can down the road.”

The RNC Rules committee has been told by Reince to “not touch a thing.” Yue wanted to replace the House rules with R.R. of Order to change the balance of power. Yue had only a smittering of support. However they may discuss it at a summer meeting when it will be to late to implement for Cleveland.

Polling in Colorado had Trump at 44% and Cruz at 34% April 5 & 6. He should have won a majority of the delegates.

4 CO state senators killed the CO bill to hold a primary March 2016.
2 of those state senators are Cruz delegates; all 4 on his campaign leadership committee.

The RNC should unseat the entire CO delegation and impose punitive rules (1/2 the delegation) for 2020. Co will be holding a primary in 2020.
