Modern environmentalism and it’s piggy back “Gaia” spirituality are spinoffs from French philosopher, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and the Enlightenment movement of 18th century Europe, where the intelligentsia was chafing under the censorship and anti science suppression of the Vatican. In looking for a substitute “spirituality” of equal authority, the Enlightenment intelligentsia focused on some bad translations of a few of the Hindu Vedas, sacred texts.
This glomming onto “eastern mysticism” became a parlor topic among the ruling class aristocracy who liked what they found in the Brahminic caste system which fit their ideas of a perpetual serfdom class like a glove.
Meanwhile Rousseau’s ideas of the “noble savage” and “back to nature” became the foundation for German Romanticism which was also welcomed into ruling class salons because the ruling class detested capitalism and industry and upsetting to their way of life and introducing “new money” from capitalists and entrepreneurs into their exclusive circles. The French aristocrat, Arthur Compte de Gobineau, one of the first modern racist theoreticians, combined this nature worship with anti-semitism and social Darwinism and began the aristocracy’s march towards Nazism.
Nature worship suffused the Hitler Youth movement in the form of the first hippies, the Nazi “Wandervogel” movement that sent Nazi youth out into the countryside as minstrels and “community organizers” to spread the word of Nazism and Nazism’s “roots” initiative which evoked Nordic paganism and living in harmony with nature. The Nazis saw themselves as the new Brahmins and protectors of the pure “Ayrian” race, a notion borrowed from Vedic texts. Occult interests were a hobby of the wealthy, preyed upon by such proto-Nazi occultists as Helena Blavatsky and her “Theosophy” movement. This is why we find a strange acceptance for hippie environmentalism among the ruling class, whose hedonism and dissolute “idle rich” lifestyles are part of the hippie hot tub/massage/herbal remedy esthetic.

When I was stationed in Germany in the early 1980’s (can’t donate blood now), I was lectured by Germans for bombing their cities in WWII (born 1948) & making too much of the Holocaust (they told the vilest antisemitic jokes).
But one woman gave me looks that could kill when I suggested that the lack of identifiable Nazis after V-E Day was due to their actually being Martians (Marsleute). As the Soviets closed in on Berlin & the Wehrmacht surrendered, the Martian overlords of the Third Reich boarded their spaceships & fled planet Earth for the Red Planet. She seethed at my sarcasm.
FWIW, American G.I.s who married German women were the most PW’d hubbies I’ve ever seen. Their cars have German flag plates in front.
Just remember - which World War II leader was loyal to his wife until death parted them, opposed smoking, loved dogs, drank only in moderation, supported recycling and executed a friend when he found out he was a child molester?

Speer was the ONLY high ranking Nazi that admitted ANY guilt. He also was vindicated by the strictly enforced compartmentalized government functions.

The Nazis had sympathizers and 5 columnists around the world, particularly in the US ruling class. Read Anthony Sutton’s “Wall St. and the Rise of Hitler”. Today their spawn control globalist banking and raw materials extraction and shipping and the foreign policies of most Western nations and NATO who is their mafia leg breaker battalion. In the Internet era they are being revealed for what they are- goose stepping Nazi goons and they are getting panicky, enough so that they would welcome a WWIII to bomb civilization back into a feudal stone age where their kind can rule with uninhibited arrogance and sadism.

I read Speer’s book a couple of times, and recall his making himself available to journalists/historians until his death in 1981. He was the only high level NAZI that was featured on the BBC series the World at War (1973).
He was a charming guy, spoke English quite well and was the brightest NAZI there was at Nuremburg. He was a self promoter, the more detailed data that has come out of the economy of the 3rd Reich, the economic miracle that was Germany in WWII was the result of not only him but a lot of folks prior to his assuming the post. It was simply that a lot of the infrastructure being built up to maintain a long war in 1941 did not come on line until he was in charge. He also was definitely a liar, as he was present at the 1943 conference where Himmler laid out the death plan of the Jews to the Gualiters. He denial has been shown to be false, he knew no later than October of 1943.
He knew about the poor conditions of the forced laborers and his deputy who was responsible for their collection and housing was executed at Nuremburg. Speer played a very careful game to avoid having his neck stretched.
He also was not above lying about his opposition to Hitler. I very much doubt the story of his planning to poison the Berlin bunker.
For some time I thought him a sociopath, in as much as he seems to match some of the supposed characteristics, but as I have gotten older I am not so sure. Events in our recent history in foreign wars have convinced me that all folks have the ability to limit their empathy with folks not of their tribe and excuse the inexcusable when they see a threat to their own. Speer grew up in a period when the Germans saw themselves as victims, and eventually destroyed their nation because of that attitude. He may have just been a product of his time.
In any case we will never really know.

In hindsight in the early 30s, Bolshevism was considered the greater threat, than Hitler. And as far as the Nazis anti-semitism, well, most of the world was anti-semitic, so it didn’t raise too much ire. And many saw Hitler was a reasonable bulwark against the threat of Bolshevism.

Yep. Word about the CHEKA’s mass executions, not only of Czarists, but first on the list were other Socialist revolutionary elements, was carried to the West on a tide of refugees. People forget that Hitler learned about the effectiveness of concentration camps and death labor from Stalin’s gulags.
And they tried to ruin Churchill within his own party when he dared to suggest that Hitler was a really, really bad guy.
Hitler often personally insulted the leaders of enemy nations, but he never had one bad thing to say about Stalin. Yes Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were enemies, but he greatly respected and admired Stalin, and I suspect it was the same for Stalin towards Hitler. They probably both thought it was a shame they had to be enemies.
Read “Fellow Travelers on the Right” about Brit aristocracy and military who were pro Hitler. That little video clip of Elizabeth II learning the fascist “Sig Heil” salute from her Nazi loving abdicated uncle is not an anomaly.
