How long will it take Trump to repeal ObamaCare? (Vanity)

The ObamaCare tax penalty for 2016 is egregious. It seems it was created to cripple the economy of the next incoming president by hamstringing American taxpayers. The ObamaCare tax penalty for 2016 is either the average cost of a bronze plan for however many months you didn't have coverage or 2.5% of your income, whichever is greater. I used an online ObamaCare tax penalty calculator. So if you are a married couple making $50,000 per year and you couldn't afford the marketplace premiums for the whole year, you would pay $2,085. That's a pretty big payment just for insurance and it is money that won't go back into the economy. This amount is assuming the price of these plans stays at their present levels which we all know they won't.

So my question is how long will it take Trump to repeal ObamaCare? Can he not suspend the ObamaCare tax without Congressional approval?

There are even plenty of single college students who would appreciate not having to pay this tax as well as young people not in in college. Yet, Trump just says he's going to replace it with something wonderful and gives no timetable. I think it's time to flesh out a plan before running against the Hildebeast.

That largely depends upon whom YOU elect to congress.

He can issue an executive order, a la Obama, the first day in office suspending Obamacare. Since Congress has failed to act to repeal the law, that gives the president the unilateral authority to do so.

Hopefully the first thing Trump will do is eliminate the penalties and Cadillac tax. Those serve no purpose and it should be easy to get that through congress. This will allow people to opt out more easily.

The next steps will be harder and will require a lot of deal making.

It shouldn’t be long. If he starts to enforce laws already on the books, he can cause a lot of trouble that will have congress’ owners begging to have the problem solved. From that position of strength, he can make a deal to pass real reform that would repeal Obamacare and fix the systemic issues with the health care system that have existed for decades. That would happen no matter which party ‘controls’ congress.

Well, the gone limits my choices like it does in every state so I wouldn’t hold my breath if your assertion is true.

Is it too soon to predict a Republican Congress would fight him to keep it?

I think it’s way past time to have a tax revolt. Whoever says that taxes haven’t gone up isn’t looking at the fine print and the new ways they’ve come up with soaking the middle class or taking from them not to mention the sky high groceries that are out there now. Naming them all could take awhile. We’re having to paying Obamacare penalties this year because the alternative is buying incredibly high deductible plans that aren’t really any more than catastrophic coverage because you want have anything overs until you amass quite a few doctor bills.

Here’s the thing about Republicans. They’re very inept and wesk. They can be bullied by the Democrats and the liberal media, and have been.

The thing about weakness and is that the weak are weak in all directions. I think they will think about resisting, but enough will fall in line when they see their necks are on the line.

How long has it taken the GOP congress you keep voting for and
sending back to DC to repeal it?

Obamacare will have collapsed on it’s own by the time Trump gets into office!!! Exchanges are pulling out at a rapid pace!!! I think there are ONLY 2 carriers left!!! Once ALL of the sickies are dumped on those two it will game over folks!!! These insurance companies get everything they deserve these BASTARDS though the money was going to come flowing in, as soon as the government subsidies stopped BOOM, bankruptcy!!!!

I think enough PhRMA dollars will flow in to stall it for a long long time.

The profits that ACA assures those companies are astronomical. They won’t go down without a fight.

All legislative power belongs to Congress, as per the Constitution, which means that no President can legitimately repeal laws.

He could, however, take the Supreme Court at its word and dismiss ObamaCare as being a violation of the constitutional "right to privacy of medical records" that the USSC 'found' in Roe v. Wade... which, I think, would be a brilliant way to deal with ObamaCare: it'd force those in power to decide between legalized infanticide and their precious first-step towards socialized medicine.

Care to explain why he would keep it? Seems nonsensical. Even the Dems are only keeping it because they would look stupid to repeal, but most admit that it’s a disaster.
