On Capitol Hill, Representative Chris Van Hollen is, literally and figuratively, a Democratic fair-haired boy. An American son of diplomats born while his parents served in Pakistan, he has used his fund-raising savvy, policy smarts and easy manner to position himself, party elders assumed, as a potential Democratic speaker of the House.
Instead, Mr. Van Hollen, now running for the Senate in his home state of Maryland, is fighting for his survival in an identity politics primary that raises an explosive question: Should a white man, or a black woman, inherit the seat held for 30 years by Barbara A. Mikulski, the longest-serving female senator in American history?

I thought external attributes were not supposed to make any difference.
I say if a woman could do the job, a man sure could too.
Hillary is a carpetbagger.
She will LOSE New York to Trump.
Carpetbagger is much too kind for what that shrew is
I feel sorry for the people in Maryland, Illiniois, and some of these States that have a real problem with corruption, it is in every State, but seems where there is an obuma critter, there’s trouble...
Look at Baltimore, now really people, any Mayor would stand up and say let them tear down the city, WHAT??? And people will re elect her and the City Attorney, and Eliza Cummings just like clock work..
I’m sure there are some really good people that live there that have some common sense and that can turn that City and State around...find them and elect them, help them, and get rid of all this crime...
Look at Chicago, same thing, Rahm Emaual was given this job because him and JarHead were at each other, and people are moving out of the City because of the crime, and I know there have to be some common sense people there that can run a City and State...
Obuma has done a great disservice to the Black Community all across our Country, it is time to set the record straight and get these people back in school, back to work and back in homes and a part of America again...Martin Luther King had us working great on this until obuma came along...
“Hillary is a carpetbagger.”
Hillary is also a carpet muncher.
She is a pathological/social pathetic alien that was dropped here when some space ship flew by...and don't think I'm crazy for saying that, she really believes there are ‘space aliens’ out there!!!
Or is this just careless leftist tripe, and the left views an election process as an inheritance?

Silence, peasant! Our royalty is allowed to pass on its power as an inheritance.
Well, I would call the big-mouthed red dwarf female, but she is not a woman.
The mayor of Baltimore is not running for another term. But there are plenty of other useless incompetents who are looking to take the office. All ‘Rats, of course.
The Rain Tax, increases in property taxes and the usual Democratic Party/socialist mismanagement turned a majority of Maryland voters against the Dems. Don't know how long this mood will last though.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Since it is Mikulski’s seat, Van Hollen should say he is a lesbian trapped in a man’s body, and this Senate seat should remain lesbian.
Van Hollen won the rat primary in crushing fashion over Edwards. Not good for Szeliga’s prospects. She won her primary with 36% in a huge field, well ahead of the 2nd place finisher.
Former Deputy Under Secretary of the Army Amie Hoeber won the GOP nomination for district 6.
In the PA Senate race, the DSCC’s choice, State EnviroNazi-in-chief Katie McGinty beat 2010 nominee Joe Sestak.
In safe R PA district 16, State Senator Lloyd Smucker won the nomination. His opponent sounded like better choice to me. Smucker voted for the gas tax hike.
Rat Chaka Fattah lost renomination.
Hottest GE house race is district 8, more votes were cast in the GOP primary.
Some Pennsylvania results:
PA-2: The loss of corrupt Chaka Fattah is a good sign. His replacement, Dwight Evans, is same cart, new driver ideologically.
PA-8: Brian Fitzpatrick won by even more than expected (87%), while ‘Rat state Rep. Steve Santarserio had a closer-than-expected 59%-to-41% margin in his primary. A very good sign.
PA-9: pork-barreling, GOPE hack Bill Shuster was nearly defeated in the primary, leading by 1,009 votes at latest count. A recount is possible.
PA-16: State Sen. Lloyd Smucker won by only 54%-to-46%, far less than expected against a little-known conservative. He’ll be looking over his right shoulder for the next couple of years.
This may be the race that pushes Shuster into retirement. Incumbents don’t like to be perpetually imperiled, especially in the primary, although we’ve seen some thrive on it.
That’s how Scott Garrett got his seat. He challenged RINO Marge Rokeuma twice, and she gave up and retired in 2002. Garrett ran again and won.
And Margie was so pissed that she endorsed the Democrat.
RE “..The loss of corrupt Chaka Fattah is a good sign...”
Highlight of my morning drive, when I heard this.
He’s a typical Philly Demrat POS.
Replacing a racist Communist with another isn’t a gain.
