Well, the thing is that in many cases it ruins ones enjoyment of their art. I was a huge fan of Barbra Streisand for many years, but when she started spouting off about politics I couldn’t watch her or hear her sing without her political pronouncements getting into my head.

It’s not good to know too much about an actor; they should hide themselves a little more. Just mho.
