From bathrooms to abortions, John Heilemann believes that in his heart, Donald Trump is a social liberal. Heilemann made his assertion on today's With All Due Respect in the context of discussing Trump's comments on a Today town hall this morning in which he was critical of the North Carolina transgender bathroom law, and said he'd have no problem letting Caitlyn Jenner choose any bathroom.
Heilemann: "Trump is probably, I think in his gut, a social liberal. I think his position on abortion, for instance, the ["very pro-choice"] position he held for most of his life, is the real position . . . I think on this issue he's like most Manhattanites or most New Yorkers: he's basically a social liberal."

Well, that’s obvious. He talks and acts like an old woman.
I actually don’t think Trump thinks much about social/cultural policies. This is all new to him. As a businessman, he’s been distressed at national/international policies, not social issues. He needs to stop listening to the women in his life. They will always bring you down!
I don't care about this crap anymore. As long as Trump builds an effective, Israel-style wall, I don't give a damn about social issues.

I posted the item because I found it newsworthy. I am definitely not NeverTrump. At times I worry about his impact on the party, etc., but at others find myself rooting for him. And I definitely have reservations about Cruz and Kasich.

To the extent that Trump actually has any real political convictions, my guess is that he is a moderate liberal or what used to be called a centrist Democrat/Rockefeller Republican.
