Transgender people should be able to use whatever bathroom they want, Donald Trump said Thursday.
"Oh, I had a feeling that question was going to come up, I will tell you. North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they're paying a big price. There's a lot of problems," the Republican presidential candidate said during a town hall event on NBC's "Today."
Referring to comments from an unnamed commentator who on Wednesday said North Carolina should "leave it the way it is right now," Trump said he agreed.
"Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all the business that's leaving, all of the strife -- and this is on both sides. Leave it the way it is," he said, referring to companies that have canceled plans to move or expand businesses in the state as a result of the law, which bans transgender individuals from using a bathroom that does not match their gender at birth.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic -- I mean, the economic punishment that they're taking."
Matt Lauer then asked whether Trump has any transgender people working for his company.
"I really don't know. I probably do. I really don't know," Trump said, answering that he would allow, say, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner to use whatever bathroom she wanted at Trump Tower.

What I see happening is a husband/dad waiting outside a women’s bathroom for his wife and or daughter and one of these gender confused individuals comes out....that might get ugly....I know I wouldn’t like it.
By election time I expect to see hordes of orange pretzels. They are Trump supporters trying to twist to their candidate's positions.
That's not "the way it is."
The way it is is that different cities and localities have passed different laws. The state wanted to set a uniform law for the entire state.
Well said. In my experience, New Yorkers look down on those of us living in flyover country. Social issues are simply not worth their time.

As I sit here this morning, I've heard two capitulations from Donald Trump within a few minutes.
First, transgendered men having access to ladies bathrooms. Second, Just reported on Fox news, Trump open to raising taxes.
Good grief.
He’s never been a woman in a bathroom with a transgender (man) lecturing them on how he’s more feminine than you for looking like the female 1950s stereotype, don’t look at them funny you bigot, lecturing them how he’s more of a woman than you.
Much less with the freaks who admit they are now “lesbian”, ie, he has a penis and sexual attraction to women, but calls himself a woman.
Agree. The liberals are going to throw as many of these social questions at Trump in the hopes of driving wedges in the GOP and to shut off any libertarian/Bernie support going to Trump in the general.
Trump needs to get proper counsel in order to properly deflect and keep focus on the big issues: illegal immigration, trade, national security, Islamic terrorism, jobs, etc.
As the Dems figure out how much trouble they’re in with Hillary as their standard bearer, these kind of antics will amp up.
What we really need is the government to create a special police force - like the TSA - to patrol all bathrooms.
Somebody needs to check to make sure the right people get into the correct bathroom.
They can continue their body checks using wands and hands.

That's not what he said. He said he opposes the move to make new non gender bathrooms which are open to anyone because that would be "discriminatory in a way" and terribly expensive.

Trump’s problem is the need to solve or answer every question put to him. This is a no win situation which he could have said is for the State to decide.
Why is that a problem? I’m for raising taxes also.
Over 45% of Americans pay NO federal taxes at all. They should. We should all be forced to carry at least some of the load.
