Trump’s father lived to be 93, and his mother to 88. Barring an assassin’s bullet or a plane going down, I think it likely that he’ll be around for 15 or more years after he finishes 2 terms.
Nonetheless, I agree that he shouldn’t pick Rubio. He needn’t pick anyone from the other 16 candidates of this year, either. Take a look at Susanna Martinez of New Mexico - very intriguing, being a Hispanic woman - that’ll deflect a LOT of the (unwarranted, IMHO) criticism against him. She’s no pushover, but does suffer from the handicap of having no DC legislative experience.

With a lot of us, that would not be a disadvantage, instead it would be an advantage. Trump could use someone who is familiar like Newt as a kitchen cabinet member.
