how many Americans died? Over a half million, I would not use Lincoln winning and stuffing the room with his people as an example.

Exactly. The American men we lost in the Civil War were good solid stock and we pay the price for their deaths today.

They were the backbone of this country. Think of how many generations of additional fine American men & women they would have begot. These would have been families that share the hard work ethic, traditions, intellect, and values that built this country and made it great.

The many Millions of their offspring -English, Irish, German, Scottish, French, European, etc. would have shaped the face of this nation quite differently than what we have today. Our rulers would not have been supportive of flooding our country with cheap labor because we would have had plenty of people here to work and support Social Security for retirees.

And slavery would have gone by the wayside within about the same timeframe just as it did in all the other South American and European countries. Other countries had many more slaves than the USA and were able to make all men free without an internal war. And they outlawed slavery without all the animosity, hatred and distorted rhetoric that we pay the price for today.

Thanks to Lincoln, the federal government diluted the autonomy of the individual states and seized more power for itself. DC expanded its control and gave itself rights it was never intended to hold. And we pay the price for this every single day.
