NBC Reporter: Cruz to Win Half Of Pennsylvania's Delegates, "Even If He Comes In Distant Third"
Real Clear Politics ^ | 4/19/2016 | Ian Schwartz

NBC's Hallie Jackson reports Cruz has changed his focus to Pennsylvania and making a play for the state's unbound delegates. Jackson, the network's Cruz correspondent, said even if Cruz has a third place finish in Pennsylvania's Republican primary, he'll win more than half the delegates.

"It's very telling that's Ted Cruz tonight is not in Brooklyn or Manhattan or any of the boroughs or state. He's in Pennsylvania," reported Jackson.

"He'll be in Philly for his watch party tonight," Jackson said. "That's indicative of where he and his campaign see this race going, to Pennsylvania, where they are looking to make a play for these unbound delegates. Even if they come in a distant third, a top campaign aide tells me, they will still, they believe, pick up more than half the delegates there."

That is the GOP version of the Democrat "super delegates" - a delegate system designed to be used by the party elites to ensure their power.

The RNC has no control over how the PA GOP decided to allocate their delegates - that is a state decision.

We don’t complain about how your state does things, don’t tell us how to do ours. So bugger off.

Corruption is corruption and it eventually affects us all.

Don’t you understand by now, it doesn’t matter if Cruz wins them. If he doesn’t win them, he will steal them two weeks from now.

Cute that you think the State GOPe is somehow independent of the national GOPe.

Go Cruz! Keep outsmarting them by playing by the rules. Simply the best way to win!

Your man is engaged in tactics to manipulate delegates such that they discard the will of the people at the first available opportunity in favor of party elites.

I think the strategy will be unsuccessful. In the event that it is, let me make this recommendation.

You should bookmark this thread for reference. It will come in handy when you are ranting against the Trump supporters who are refusing to support your candidate in the general election.

When you need a reminder that his candidacy was doomed all along, all you'll need to do is review your smug comments.

Hahaha.. sorry, but wishful thinking. Yes delegates are unbound, but polling of the delegates on the ballot a full 2/3 state they intend to follow the district vote.. another 1/3 say they will vote for their guy no matter who wins their district, and of that 1/3 the breakdown is about 50/50 Trump and Cruz... so not bloody likely at all that Cruz will win the delegate count out of PA.

The Cruz campaign has devolved into a giant middle finger to the idea of representation.

Cute that you think the State GOPe is somehow independent of the national GOPe.

If the national GOP is in charge, why are there so many different ways that the delegates are awarded? Proportional, winner take all, winner take most, conventions, "loopback" elections - I know the idea of an all-powerful national GOP manipulating things behind the scenes down to the local precinct level appeals to your birther, tinfoil hat conspiracist nature, but they have a lot less control at the state level than you think.

Well, since there was not any corruption in our delegate elections and they went exactly as the GOP voters in Colorado have put in place since 2004, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Yes, I’m going to be a sore loser holding my nose and voting for Trump. Hope he proves me wrong about him. Damn shame our opportunity to get a conservative elected is passing by.

This isn't necessarily directed at you but it's an observation on how some people still see Cruz as a principled conservative. Through his actions during his campaign he has showed more and more that he isn't. When it comes down to it, conservative is just a label. That doesn't mean it is true or not.

Now, in my past I've battle lots of liberals online. They became so delusional that there is no debating with them but I think their continued delusions come from a failed ideology and agenda.

I much more enjoy posting at FreeRepublic because it is far more civil and I want to join in to help preserve our Constitution and our freedoms and liberties that his corrupt government continues to try to destroy.

In my dealings with liberals, labels mean everything to them and that's all they see. You just can break them of that bad habit. Putting so much faith in labels is wrong and I thought I'd never see it here till this primary come about.

Now that I've given my background, it just seems so many here are stuck on the label: "conservative" and that blinds them to question whether Cruz is conservative or not. What Cruz is doing, along with the corrupt GOP establishment, is neither principled nor conservative. The ends justify the means is far from that too. He is also a life-long government employee and has very little experience as a Senator.

This is NOT necessarily directed at you but it is something I've noticed on how people can get stuck on labels and it blinds them to question whether it is true or not. As a kid that came from a large Hispanic American family, I learned to question everything.

That's why I questioned as a kid why so many were against Reagan. Well, I discovered the truth and I have been a Reagan Constitutional Conservative ever since. We have to question everything, even the things we like and support and can't allow ourselves to get stuck on labels.

As a bonus, I'm going to add a FR link to FenwickBabbitt's post/thread that will make any conservative more comfortable about Donald Trump as he points out Trump's conservative views go a long way's back.

A FReeper discussion on the history of Trump's conservative pro-America positions

That's not what I've read or watched from people in Colorado. To try to attempt to normalize the situation there is what propaganda is all about but the American people can see right through that.

I generally rant about candidates. I will not not rant against someone not voting for Trump or Cruz or anyone. I try to point out why someone should or shouldn’t vote. I am a conservative. I vote for conservatives. Not everyone is conservative. I get that.

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?

That just popped into my head as I read your post and wondered what you trumpers are gonna do when your guy fails.

Don’t blame Ted Cruz. He actually knew how to run for president.

Trump did it for a lark and only in the last week has he taken it seriously enough to shake up his lame organization.

And he shook it up by hiring another crook. This Paul Rapafort did work for many years for the loathed and despised GOP, but he has been out of the game for years messing about in Russia with mobsters. He’s a real sterling guy.

Donald may be getting serious as he’s promised to use some of his own money. That’ll be the day. Anybody he promises money to had better get it up front. He’s a notorious deadbeat and never pays bills on time, if ever.

Trump hires lawyer??

Puleeze. Dry cleaners in NY are full of 3-piece suits owned by Trump lawyers.

He does not have to hire a lawyer, although his first inclination is to sue if things don’t go his way, he has plenty of lawyers on call.
