Cruz claims he's won 'landslides over and over' – even though only one of them held an election

Ted Cruz boasted Monday morning that he has won 'landslides' in the last five states to award Republican convention delegates, even though only one of those states held a popular-vote election.

'There have been a total of five states that have voted in the last three weeks,' he claimed during a town hall event on 'Good Morning America.'

'In those states, starting with Utah, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Colorado and Wyoming, 1.3 million people voted in those states. And he lost all five. We have won five in a row, and Donald's upset so he's throwing a fit.'

Cruz reiterated moments later that in 'five states in a row, we've won landslides over and over and over again.'

No one expects hum to do well in NY. But he campaigned there and made his case. Unlike Trump who did not even do his supporters in the west the honor of showing up to encourage them. Cruz is entitled to frame his victories any way he wants to just like Trump does. You know. Yuuuge victories. Best people. It’s a democracy. That sort of thing.

“Cruz is entitled to frame his victories”

He can take his Back Room, Party Boss ‘Victories’ and shove um up his big fat flabby white butt.

I can’t believe he’s still saying this stuff.

For a candidate who’s supporters claim is the smartest guy in the room, this is really a dumb move.

In every poll Donald Trump wins the “he-is-who-he-is” factor.

As Lee Atwater would tell you, that’s critically important. Once the broader electorate sense “who you are”, and become comfortable with that sensibility, there is a remarkable shift toward granting the benefit of doubt in policy and change.

[The most recent example of such a benefactor was Bill Clinton in his prime.]

However, in the same polls, Ted Cruz is viewed as the candidate willing to tell you everything you want to hear so long as it benefits him. That’s the “authenticity” issue. Just as there is a long-term benefit in positive authenticity polling, there is a long-term detriment in negative authenticity polling.

Opinions of “authenticity” are almost impossible to change once they embed. The word ‘almost’ is an understatement, because no politician in modern times has ever been able to reverse the authenticity component.

Bernie Sanders also benefits from positive opinions in authenticity, and Hillary Clinton is viewed similarly to Cruz as inherently inauthentic as a matter of mere disposition.

Well, supposedly Trump did that too... although I think there were mitigating circumstances, i.e. at the end of the day she wasn’t forced out.

But Cruz called it a 'grassroots' triumph.

'We had a tremendous show of grassroots support that resulted in a critical victory at today's Wyoming Republican Convention,' he said in a statement.

'Grassroots are rising up. Republicans overwhelmingly elected delegates who will support us at the national convention and nominate us to take on Hillary Clinton. This is how elections are won in America.'

This is hilarious! Lyin' Ted will say anything to get elected! Sure ted, hundreds of party hacks meeting on a Saturday morning to award you all the delegates is a grass roots revolution! I used to like Ted...now he makes me sick.

Father Raphael Cruz was involved with the Kennedy Assassination. Believe me, this has been planned for a looooong time. For Pete’s Sake, how many other political moles have been bred?

The party hacks were scheduled to vote for Turtle Bush but when he "suspended" his candidacy and Cruz took on all the GOPe advisors he inherited the crooked delegate vote.

“The prolific ones are paid agents for the most part. They may control more than one account, or work in concert with others.”

Good point. I imagine all of the campaigns have social media operatives who have teams of people operating on many platforms - DU included. That’s why it seems like some of these posters can go on for days - shift work.

I’m with you. Even on my Republican forum on Facebook for my state. Cruz supporters are vicious acting like they are ahead and winning. I thought I was on a democrat forum.

I don't think it really is a democracy any more. We have been swindled out of our rights a long time ago and now it is becoming obvious to many people.

This is what James Madison had to say about this:

“There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurptions.” The two parties have controlled this nation for generations. We have been kept out of the real decision making process. We are a grass roots country in name only.

I have a theory about this:

1) Tell someone to do something they’re doing already.
2) Tell them to do something they’re not already doing but don’t mind doing.
3) Tell them to do something they’re not doing and don’t want to do.
