Secret 28 pages of 9/11 report under new scrutiny

When the president leaves for a trip to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday an unresolved issue will go with him: did the Saudis play some role in supporting the hijackers responsible for the attacks on September 11th?

The question is being raised in the wake of a renewed push to declassify 28 pages of a 838-page congressional report on the worst terror attack on American soil.

The so-called “28 pages” are locked away in a secure basement room at the Capitol and although they can be read by members of Congress, the pages remain classified.

That the two of the hijackers involved in the September 11 attacks landed in Los Angeles, moved to San Diego and obtained housing, language lessons and identification is widely known.

However, those 28 pages could shed more light on the money and connections used to do so and are said to include information “suggesting specific sources of foreign support for some of the September 11 hijackers while they were in the United States,” according to the chapter’s introduction in the report.

Former Senator Bob Graham told “60 Minutes” in an interview, “I think it is implausible to believe that 19 people, most of whom didn’t speak English, most of whom had never been in the United States before, many of whom didn’t have a high school education — could’ve carried out such a complicated task without some support from within the United States.”

Graham is the former chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and co-chair of the bipartisan joint congressional inquiry into intelligence failures surrounding the attacks. He wants those pages declassified and told “60 Minutes” he believes support for the hijackers came from the government, wealthy people and charities in Saudi Arabia.

The White House says the Director of National Intelligence hopes to complete the review process by the end of the year. And Graham told the Tampa Bay Times it could happen in the next month or two based on a phone call he got from a senior Obama administration official.

But the White House would not confirm that timeline and also wouldn’t confirm the president even has read the 28 pages....................Barry doesn't care

Is this the 9/11 Commission Report? The one that had Jaime Gorelick, former assistant AG who single handedly erected the CIA-FBI intelligence sharing wall that facilitated 9/11?

THE Jaime Gorelick who was also vice chair of Fannie Mae, made millionaire several times over in bonuses, preceding the loan bubble and credit derivatives that tanked the economy? That Jaime Gorelick who is also responsible for the report being discussed?

Or is the report being discussed a separate one?

...although they can be read by members of Congress, the pages remain classified.

That pretty much guarantees they'll never be read.

He wouldn’t have to personally read it. His staff could easily digest it for him and/or brief him. This issue certainly qualifies as one of high importance as it relates to our national security. The point is, its not something that should have escaped his attention.

Correct. Why would anyone expect them to read this when they don’t even read the bills they vote on? The “elites” in congress are mostly talkers, not absorbers of facts.

I have been told many times that if I am doing nothing wrong, I have nothing I need to hide. They are hiding what the Saudis did.

That explains it all as far as I’m concerned.

aftermath of 9/11 while a number of investigations were in progress, a published report surfaced stating there was reason to believe the terrorists were financed with Saudi money, implying a government link.

My guess is that the Saudi Government -per se- was not behind it, but that individuals in Government posts like embassy and Saudi intelligence employees were.
We covered it up so the American people wouldn’t demand severe steps against Saudi Arabian government and relations.

Time these lying SOBs in our government reveal it all to the people. Explain what needs explaining. Let the chips fall. If the Saudis were not behind it as a government, then they should engage in the required severe ass kissing to America in order to repair the damage to their reputation.
Bush screwed us on this for his buddies. Obama has done likewise.

This is supposed to be a republic. The citizenry has a right to know.

Bullshit. He has enough time to read 28 pages.

Worth watching.

And this is all to make sure Saudi Arabia cannot be held financially responsible for what their government employees did. To prevent lawsuits.

It would make sense to me that Bushes, Clintons made a deal with Saudi for oil...and Saddam wasn't buying the deal...Bush wanted all the oil and so what better way to get back at Saddam for Daddy Bush than for Baby Bush to start a war and blame it on Osama Bin Ladin, who was by the way a Saudi and came from the ‘royalty’ line, so Baby Bush started a war with Iraq, thinking all the time, good pay back, but that didn't happen quite like the Bushies thought it should, ISIS now have the oil, because obuma is a Muslim and his Brotherhood now have the oil...

So do we wait and see what other ‘big crisis’ is going to happen so we can go to war again? (Jeb’s reason for POTUS)...
