Ohio State Shuts Down Student Occupation after Arrests, Expulsion Threatened

Ohio State Vice President Jay Kasey paid the protesters a visit shortly after the occupation began, with a message from the president.

"Dr. Drake will never receive a list of demands and he will not negotiate with you," Kasey calmly informed the group before moving on to the next part of his conversation, which included the university's own list of demands.

"If you refuse to leave, then you will be charged with a student code of conduct violation," Kasey said. "If you are here at 5:00 a.m. we will clear the building and you will be arrested." He added, "We will give you the opportunity to go to jail for your beliefs."

"What do you mean by 'clear the building?'" one of the stunned students asked.

Kasey didn't mince words: "Our police officers will physically pick you up and take you to a paddy wagon," he answered. "The people who work in this building should be protected also."

Yes, the Univ. of Missouri is a great example to use. The parents in Missouri sent their kids elsewhere. Mizzou closed two dorms. Yes!!!

Not only are you a manly man, you demonstrate that you are "teachable." Well done!

He used the term "paddy wagon", and as an American of the Irish persuasion who belongs to a minority group I am offended by that racial slur.

I am going to find a safe space free of such triggering phrases.

Back in the day, I was attending a state university. A group of demonstrator had one of the main intersections blocked. As I walked away, I saw two carloads of state police headed for the demonstrators. Not long afterwards, I heard yelling as the officers tear gassed the students.

Later still the troopers passed me again as they headed out of town. They had accomplished their mission.

For some reason there were no more demonstrations after that,

A nice step to saving education would be to end affirmative action acceptances, and that includes athletes. My feeling is that OSU is trying to be two things at once....an all-embracing school with opportunity for all and winning teams AND an academically highest-caliber college opportunity, with the highest of standards.

If this stuff pollutes a college or university, they make themselves irrelevant. There are so many on-line opportunities for a college education, that it's just not sensible to subject young adults to an out of control environment.

Good for OSU. Next step, take away the scholarships of anyone who's arrested and presecuted.

“We wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in now had the “establishment” at that time played hardball.”

It was during that time that the Media-Education complex wrested control of the “Establishment” away from those who valued the military and business.

The “student riots” were part of what was used to do so.

Next, the university president needs to talk to the admissions office and to the department heads, asking them to explain first, how these gerbils were admitted to the school, and second, why they are still so ignorant and addled after some years at the university.

The general idea of advanced education is that students go to college to learn and to grow into adults.

But these whining snot bags already know it all.

So they decided to attend so they can do the instructing.

I agree with this Mizzou has taken some real hits, in spite of denials by the libs/Dems

My spouse and I agreed loooong ago that the bed was the safe space. Once either of us reaches the bed, all arguments, negative topics, etc., STOP. Works well!

Honestly, If I had been in the student group, I would have gotten four or five guys to go with me and would have jumped the administrator and kicked the living hell out of him. If you believe in something, fight for it. THEN, they could take me to jail. Otherwise, go home.

I watch the video. The students looked like affirmative action, selfish, entitled brats.

Hmmm, last article I saw on it, not that I hunt them out, was that applications from desirable students (want a real education, upper percentile of the SATs, etc.) are down, as well as a hefty increase in the out-transfers of the better and/or full-freight paying undergrads.

I feel sorry for the MO residents that have to pay for that mess, especially those for whom Mizzou is, well, was, their best economic college option.

Affirmative action played a large part in the admissions of those portrayed in the video. If their majors were disclosed, I seriously doubt we would see many Engineering students there.

I am pretty sure you are right. The Somali gal didn’t look like she had too many neurons firing.

Did you notice the off-screen Communist cadre (a white man, by his voice) who was making all the decisions?
