What a dufus! John Kasich asking Yeshiva students who basically do nothing but study this stuff all the time simpleton questions. "You know about Joshua?" No, John, they never heard about him.

This is like asking graduate physics students if they ever heard about gravity.

I think it was an attempt to obviously win Jewish votes..and to demonstrate to Evangelicals that he knows his Bible...but considering what many discuss today, at least this was biblical, and not abortion, porn, rap, transgenderism, etc. Not a Kasich man, but at least it was different and wholesome.

Perhaps but it was laughable that he was asking questions that were simpleton material to them. It’s like asking electrical engineers if they ever heard of alternating current.

God Bless John, we got to love the guy, at least he is a lot more honest than Cruz. Maybe he can’t win a state, but at least John won’t steal your votes or deny you the right to go vote like they did in Colorado.

I hope Trump appoints John Postmaster General in honor of John’s dad.

>Yeshiva students who basically do nothing but study this stuff all the time <

From what I gather, Yeshiva students don’t “study this stuff all the time,” they study the Talmud and Kabbalah.

No fan of Kasich, but I was pleasantly surprised he knew the Bible well enough to know about Joseph and Joshua. I doubt whether Trump, Hillary, or Sanders, would know.

Cruz, certainly so, his Dad’s a preacher.

I’ve seen no evidence he knows the Bible - just the opposite. More likely he knew he had to crib for his audience.

Please. You don't even have to know the Bible well to know about Joseph and Joshua. One from a cartoon (or movies) and the other from a plethora of flicks about Moses.

Kasich has really changed from 20 years ago. He seemed pretty solid when he was on Newt’s team back then. Now, the guy is really bizarre.

I don’t know about that, not many are aware of the verse he referenced, “ye thought evil against me, but God meant it for good,” Gen. 50:20.

if they ever heard of alternating current.
= = =

Then if they know of direct current?

THEN if they know AC/DC?

After the first few debates, I deemed Kasick to be a sanctimonious little twit. Since then, everything he says confirms that I am right on the money...

No problem with a little kibitzing with the talmudim. But they would have a difficult time in banter. They’re basically filling their heads with rote memory. What did rabbi Hillel say and what did that rabbit Shammai say. There supposedly is a purpose to this, but to many ultra-orthordox they are too holy to work and must be supported by alms or even by welfare.

One of the students mentioned they were studying the laws of the Sabbath. Shammai would be for a strict obedience. Hillel, on the other hand, is more persuaded that the whole of revelation can be summarized in proper self-love (since we are made in the image of God) and love of others (as they are as well). The admonition to love others as you love yourself requires knowledge as to how to love yourself and others. A masochist would love others through sadism.

The appropriate challenge to a candidate for President, is how do we express our love for the unfortunate among us so as to not undermine the natural incentive to be self-responsible and not overly burden those who work and pay taxes.

Incredibly disrespectful. He keeps waving people off, turning his back on them, walking away. Just incredible. THIS is the candidate who claims he wants to “bring back civility”? Trump and Cruz treat people with respect, especially those who know more than them. Kasich is an insufferable asshole.

If any of them challenges him for going along with Obamacare, he can retort that he’s a better Jew than they are.

They’re basically filling their heads with rote memory.

Rote memory systems create strong platforms for future thoughts... Thoughts like this: "The appropriate challenge to a candidate for President, is how do we express our love for the unfortunate among us so as to not undermine the natural incentive to be self-responsible and not overly burden those who work and pay taxes." Which is right on...

“... And it came to pass that God created a postman, and blessed that postman and his wife with a son, who they named John. And when John became an adult, the lord came to him and said ‘Go forth, and proclaim to all the lands that you are John, son of a postman’ ”.
