I would suspect that “Rule 40” will be changed, and that’s going to keep up the pro-Trump fervor about the nomination being manipulated by pols who write the rules that suit them as they need them.

What kind of deal was struck in the RNC meeting with Trump?

After the end of April Primaries in the Northeast, Cruz will be mathematically eliminated for 1237, 1100, or any other number you can dream up.

Regardless of any fantasy anyone has the final # will be 1237! See you all on the second ballot.

Rules sometimes are not constitutional. One man one vote depends on getting your voting rights recognized. In this case it was the intent to subvert the Constitutions 1st amendment. Voting is political free speech, it voices our opinion in this USA Representative democracy, on who shall represent us, and lead our country. Cruz says he is a Constitutionalist, be he has shown how he would rather eliminate voting and steal votes, ballot stuff, and lie about Nice Do Carson dropping out of the race.

I think Trump will in the end have won 66% or 2/3 of the states in a 17 person contest. What kind of rules can deny millions of votes and the overwhelming preponderance of won states.

Not possible. The rules specify 1237. Not 1100.

What kind of deal was struck in the RNC meeting with Trump?

If it were to involve any changes to delegate #’s you would see lawyers lining up for miles.

That is a concern for sure. If I am correct, any rule changes would have to be ratified by the overall delegate body. If that is the case, then the Trump and Cruz folks simply shoot down that rule change.

But...

What if Cruz is working for the GOPe?

Then the Cruz delegates would vote TO MODIFY Rule 40 in order to prevent Trump from getting the OH delegates.

In that case, that would be consistent with Cruz’ game to deny Trump a 1st ballot win. Cruz would be opening up the possibility though of the GOPe putting in a Romney, Ryan, Walker, Jeb!, etc. - a very dangerous gambit.

Neither side (here on FR) has been very reasonable!

Folks, we need to remember that the enemy is Obama/Hillary/DNC/MSM/Hollywood/Liberal Academia.

After the convention, NO MATTER WHO IS THE NOMINEE, we all need to come together and vote to keep Hillary (or Bernie) out of the White House.

Didn’t I read that the bound votes of candidates who have dropped out, don’t get to vote on the first ballot?

If so, that means rubio’s 271-273 bound votes, don’t count. And the number trump needs to hit drops by half of that.

I don't like Cruz at all anymore after originally donating 4 times for him, but despite my current opinion about Cruz in doubting the story of the RNC member.
I can honestly see a later interview after the election where this same official comes out and says, “Oh, I'll be darned, I am wrong”.

Could be a GOPe dirty trick to stop the current protests against various GOP headquarters like the one this Friday in CO.

The system is corrupt!

This is unfair!

The rules have been designed to stop Trump!

Trump was GOPe all along. Who knew?

But here's where We, The People (the 99.99%) misunderstand.... We mistakenly think these primaries are our voting rights. When in fact, these primaries are when two private Clubs (The Republican Club and The Democratic Club) choose who THEIR nominee is going to be, to run against each other at an election to be held in November. November is when we get to vote. Not now. "Now" is all a charade, and We, the Citizens of the United States, falsely believe we matter during the primaries. We do not. As is becoming increasingly clear to more Americans every day, and after every new and different shenanigan, like what went on in Colorado.

A lot of nastiness here on FR by Trump supporters....AND Cruz supporters. Just hate to see the infighting as it were.

I said that I didn't think it was true. I didn't see anything in the source material that CTH produced, that CTH claimed supported that conclusion. I read all of the Ohio GOP rules and the Ohio election statutes.

The most equitable division of delegates on a first ballot, if Kasich drops out, would be proportional allocation - but I think the allocation depends only on the discretion of the Ohio state GOP.

I’ve not seen the interview, but no, under the current rules, a majority is required, not a “large plurality.” That’s 1,237.

Although the rules could be changed, that would require at least a majority too. And the only way that happens is if
1. All first-ballot Trump delegates go along (and they aren’t required to; their pledge is only to support the candidate’s nomination, not miscellaneous rule-change motions); and
2. Some other, presumably non-Cruz delegates join in by the hundreds.

Even if the rules were changed and Trump were thus nominated by less than a majority, Trump (or any candidate nominated through such a process) would be dead meat. A large enough share of the other candidates’ supporters would not vote for Trump in November — even if they otherwise would have, without a rule change.

Mind you, I suspect the GOP is dead meat anyway, having ripped itself apart fighting over Trump v. Cruz. Most of the loser’s supporters will still support the winner in November, but enough will stay home to lock it up for Obama’s third term. :(

Bad News for Cruz.

Not really. This is just one man's opinion that he thinks Trump could get enough unbound delegates to make up the difference. But since most of those "unbound" delegate spots will be filled with Cruz supporters or party officials, I doubt he would be too successful at wooing them.

Ted Cruz is down in the muck - with no hope of winning on the first ballot - trying to steal any votes he can for the second ballot.

How does one go about stealing votes? Do they put the votes in a safe or a lock box, and then Ted Cruz breaks in and takes them? Seriously, how is he stealing votes?
