RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory on Tuesday issued an executive order that changes two provisions in the controversial LGBT-protections law, and reaffirms private sector and local government rights to enact their own non-discrimination policies.

In a statement his office released, the governor said the order was necessary because of widespread confusion about the intent of the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act. The law has led to substantial opposition from major companies, and hundreds of quantifiable lost jobs.

A change in law requires a LEGISLATURE. This idiot is as big a fascist as obama.

No they haven’t because sexual orientation and gender identity are still not protected classes under state law. What he did was allow those employees who are currently protected from anti-discrimination by law to sue employers in state court rather than have to go to the federal EEOC. Now if the state process works like the federal process the investigating authority has to give the complainant permission to file suit. This happens after the investigation.

Now the protection he extended to state employees in the area of sexual orientation and gender identity only apply to employment practices and work place polices. It does not void the bathroom requirements of the bill.

He reaffirmed that private business can set whatever policies they like in regards to employment practices and where everyone will go potty.

It’s all about the money.
If these politicians lack the political will to do what is right, they have no business being in office.

The most controversial part of the new law, requiring people use bathrooms of their sex at birth and not their gender identity, remains intact.

Controversial??? Really?

This.... is controversial???

Humanity has walked off the deep end....

The law McCrory signed this year and is now backing down on is about reversing a transgender ordinance in Charlotte.

Last year McCrory vetoed some religious freedom legislation for those who object to gay marriage but was overridden by the legislature.

The big corporations run the Republican Party and much of what we call the “Conservative Movement” in this country.

The irony is the only meaningful way to send the Establishment a message is to support Donald Trump, who they don’t want to be president over immigration restrictions that would hurt their cheap labor pool.

“Where are the churches on this issue? Their silence is consent.”

Key question.

The Pulpits have been silent for quite some time. And from what I’ve seen, most Bishops either look the other way or are part of the problem.

Pope Francis hasn’t helped either.

"...discrimination against an LGBT worker not OK, but banning them from restrooms consistent w/ gender identity is OK"

Having a tiff are we? Who can tell if someone is being discriminated against unless they can disclose why others who do not think like them can be accused of discriminating.........

(FUNDING FOR LGBT ORGANIZATIONS0) pretty impressive...just follow the money for the real agenda here....

You can support some people all you want, but when YOUR daughter or son is a victim of their perversions, watch how fast that support crumbles.

True,

They’re just liberals who haven’t been “mugged” yet...not that I’m advocating the thought of innocents being the victims in this mess.

Businesses have a right to set, policies to deny services.

Thy dont become slaves because they open up a business. They do not lose their right not to enter into contracts with others if they don’t want to.

This is a real moral issue and people have a right to say no.

It is not immutable characteristics.

And if you think I am wrong then every female only business like Curves needs to be sued out of existence too.

Who are the people in NC demanding open restrooms for perverts? One can only assume it’s the perverts.

Not beng critical of your post, but to be fair the black churches have been the most vocal and active on this.

The genteel white churches in all denominations continue their slide into new age touchy feely nothingness labeled diversity, inclusion, etc.

It doesn’t matter - society has decided we will accept all deviant behaviors and they have the media, the entertainment industry and corporate directors in their camp and will use all means of extortion to force their agenda.

There was an interview with an ACLU director on the local radio station in Raleigh today - I thought it was a conservative radio station until they described the bill as a “sweeping attack on LGBT rights.” The ACLU director described the situation multiple times as “horrible” and would only accept full repeal of the bill - no compromises. The government will eventually give in because their constituents follow the faces on the currency instead of the word of God.
