Warning: White people singing Rihanna could cause ‘microaggressions’
FOX ^ | 4/11/2016

You can’t be singing Rihanna’s “Umbrella” if you happen to be a white fella – fella.

That’s what kids learned during a lesson on “privilege” and “microaggressions” in a human relations theory class at the University of Oklahoma.

Ah, yes. There’s nothing quite like a bit of white-shaming courtesy of the American taxpayers.

“I was told as a white woman it’s insulting and a microaggression for me to cover or sing a Rihanna song because I’m not from Barbados,” a student who was in the class told me. “I was literally told to go sing the Star-Spangled Banner.”

The student, who asked not to be identified, sent me copies of both assignments – including a 100-item checklist to determine how much “privilege” you have.

For example, you’ve got privilege if “a stranger has never asked to touch my hair, or asked if it is real.”

Straight, white guys who have a job, vacation in Cabo, and go to church on Sunday are “very privileged.” Atheists, Muslims and anyone who works at a fast-food joint would be considered under-privileged.

The student who reached out to me wants to work in human resources – and the class is mandatory.

“They teach you that if you are not part of the minority you cannot be discriminated against,” she said. “A black person cannot be racist to a white person. A female cannot be sexist towards a man because men are the majority.”

Here’s a sampling of the 100-question privilege checklist:

· I am white.

· I have never been told I would “burn in hell” for my sexual orientation.

· I still identify as the gender I was born in.

· I work in a salaried job.

· I have never done my taxes myself.

·

“Defied him most?” Possibly, but I doubt it.

Reminds me of that scene from Blazing Saddles where Clevon Little is told to "sing us a song" and he breaks into:
"I get no kick from champagne" - then the crew boss tells him: "no, I mean a real song, like 'Camptown Lady'"

Clevon claims he doesn't know how the song goes, so all the crew bosses start a-singing and dancing to "Camptown lady"

That is, until Slim Pickens shows up....

I don’t believe in micro aggression.

I believe in all out assault. I want to leave a strong impression.

Being nice for the sake of being nice is not being nice

Define your term - “establishment conservative.”

What’s your evidence?

My comments:

-I don’t know who “Rhianna is and I don’t care.
-You’d be better off singing the Star Spangled Banner than much of anything else in terms of culture.
-Stop trying to pretend that “hip hop, rap etc are worth anything to anybody-mere trash, immorality and hate ( of all types) from what I have heard my ears and mind still cringe at the hearing of it.
-embrace better things- supposed “African” hair dos, mannerisms ( they are still uncivilized based on how they live with each other).

American ism is one of tolerance and acceptance and the “melting pot” method of creating a homogenous society where every one who wishes can improve their condition by hard work, seizing of opportunity and perseverance, not entitlement and “economic justice ( which really means taking from the former mentioned and giving to those who won’t be the aforementioned.

Politics sucks and everything is political.

Hate me if you wish, I don’t really care.
I work for a living.

The deeper question is..... why would someone to sing one of Rhianna’s songs?

Here is the sign for this student that wants to work in human resources:

If these two items (among all the other claptrap in this assignment) offend your sensibilities, then you will never have the mentality it takes to work in an HR department…

“I was told as a white woman it’s insulting and a microaggression for me to cover or sing a Rihanna song because I’m not from Barbados,” a student who was in the class told me. “I was literally told to go sing the Star-Spangled Banner.”

“I still identify as the gender I was born in.”

"I don’t believe in micro aggression. I believe in all out assault."

Reminds me of a morning greeting from an old USMC crew chief I worked with: "Looks like a beautiful morning for an all-out amphibious assault"

Nobody REALLY cares about racism, it’s become a punchline to a tired old joke.

My Latino students ask to touch my hair all the time. I was surprised; we all have straight hair. But apparently mine is softer and finer, because I’ve had a lot of little fingers in it. And no, of course I do not get offended. They also ask if my blue eyes are real. Regularly.
