Eagle Forum Press Release

The Board of Eagle Forum, a 501(c)(4) corporation, held a Board meeting in accordance with and pursuant to the Eagle Forum By-Laws and Illinois State Law at 2 pm CDT on April 11, 2016.

Pursuant to the By-Laws, Eagle Forum First Vice President, Eunie Smith, presided over the meeting. Eagle Forum Founder, Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly, the Chairman of the Board, was present during the entire meeting, including expressing herself on all seven votes. In Schlafly’s opening statement she said she has spent her life building Eagle Forum as a unique organization of volunteers. She also said that paid staff cannot order volunteers around. Mrs. Smith said, “The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that Eagle Forum will continue long into the future as a viable force for all the causes we have addressed in the past, for God, family and country.”

The Board of Eagle Forum voted to remove Mr. Ed Martin as President of the corporation; effective immediately. Mrs. Eunie Smith is serving as President until a new President is elected pursuant to the Eagle Forum By-Laws. Mrs. Smith appointed Eagle Forum Board Vice Chairman, Anne Schlafly Cori, daughter of Phyllis Schlafly, as Executive Director of Eagle Forum. Anne Schlafly Cori has worked with our state organizations and worked alongside Phyllis for some time.

Anne Schlafly Cori said, “I am honored and excited to be working with our wonderful state volunteer leaders from across the country. We are continuing the incredible legacy of our Founder Phyllis Schlafly.”

Dr. Shirley Curry was directed to lead a Search Committee for a new president of Eagle Forum.

...and adding, Cathie Adams, the lady from Texas, recently resigned her position as President of Eagle Forum, to run for a position in TX, maybe Vice-chair RNC or something similar.

She’s a GOP/Cruzbot to the max. Not surprising if she’s throwing Phyllis or Ed under the bus to advance herself. If Cruz were to win, old Cathie would have herself positioned pretty well in TX with Cruz as POTUS. She’d be a somebody.

What do you mean "You Cruzers"? This was not about Trump or Cruz. This was about a man who lied to Phyllis's face REPEATEDLY and convinced her that her friends and family were out to get her.

Political hacks will use any sad situation to push their meme....even a man manipulating an elderly woman for his own benefit.

I hope they can get this settled, because family is more important than a stupid primary.

Actually Phyllis started the revolt by firing all the Cruz supporters. They then turned things around on her and used the rules of the organization to get back control. Seems Trump supporters everywhere are paying the price for not understanding the rules.

That’s a horrible scandal, if he was. Is this relation to Roger Stone publicly known, or are you just reporting inside skinny? (I’m just wondering if I can have a published source in any arguments on FR.)

The rules ? The Cruz religion has no rules other than his anointing. They are going to burn the First and Second amendments as their offering.

You really need to join reality. Cruz is credited with arguing one of the most consequential cases before the Supreme Court supporting the Second Amendment. It is absurd statements such as yours that give Trumpets such a bad name with the general public and here on FR.

The reality is that the vast majority of Freepers are on to Cruz' con job. He will not be able to deceive them a second time. If he were to realize his ambition and the dreams of his father, he would single handedly destroy the GOP in a crushing defeat without remedy. After 12-20 million illegal, mainly Hispanic, immigrants are granted the civil right to vote by the Sotomayor Court, the word conservative will be shunned and the only real elections will be Democrat primaries, as it is already in most of the country, according to electoral votes.

... it was a coup against her.

It wasn't a coup. Where is the illegality (or even the violence) your word describes??

More personal speculation BS just like your “First an Second Amendment” BS. Cruz has been, and will continue to be a staunch Conservative, as opposed to Trump who only recently “found” conservatism. You of course realize that in his previous life Trump supported gun control, abortion, importing foreign workers, liberal democrats, the Gang of 8, and many other non-conservative positions. Though I will support Trump if he is the nominee, I expect he will cut deals as president that will leave supporters like you (and us conservatives) furious.

Phyllis was betrayed by her own daughter, and those she had trusted and helped. Trying to seize her money could be criminal, depending on state elder law and how the finances were structured.
It is an epic betrayal and reflects the poison of Cruz’ mixture of politics and religion.

Were Cruz to obtain the nomination without the will of the voters, as he is attempting to do, he would be so soundly defeated that the Supreme Court would be packed by Democrats and revisit/decide the First and Second Amendment cases, and go where no court has gone before. The conservative movement would be broken and defeated so soundly that the name Cruz will be a byword for future generations.

Eagles Forum is a corporation. Although I haven't been following this that closely, at this point I see nothing that is illegal. To call it a "coup" is to suggest that there is an illegality.

Your next accusation, that Cruz mixes "politics and religion" reminds me of what the left falsely criticizes. Cruz believes in religious freedom. Do you have a problem with that?

If Cruz can assemble a coalition of delegates that exceeds 1237, then he clearly has support of more people than a candidate who is not able to get to 1237. If sore losers from Trump or any other candidate walk away from him and cause him to lose, then the consequence of their actions rests on their heads.

False; it just show how corrupt Cruz and the GOPe are; Trump has almost 2 million more votes than Cruz, and that trajectory is unlikely to change. Cruz is not winning the voters; he is simply the GOPe tool to stop Trump from getting the nomination.
