Hayes, whose Hummer collided with an SUV driven by Smith just before the shooting, sued the New Orleans Police Department in 2005 over his father’s shooting death at the hands of police. A high-profile case, a settlement was reached in 2011 and one of the officers named as a defendant was having dinner with Smith just before the shooting occurred, according to The Advocate.

Hmm. One heck of a coincidence.

Probably the killer was “dissed” in some way either for real or in his marijuana drenched imagination

The 28-year-old suspect has a rap sheet, according to the Advocate. He pled guilty in 2014 to illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, and received six months probation.

There's a story dating back in 1995 about a convicted murderer who is on death row in Louisiana for killing three people during an armed robbery at a restaurant in New Orleans.

1. The three victims included two restaurant workers (maybe the owners), along with an off-duty New Orleans police officer who was moonlighting as a security guard at the restaurant.

2. The person on death row was one of two perpetrators in the case. She was a black woman who also happened to be an off-duty New Orleans police officer at the time.

That story told me everything I ever needed to know about New Orleans. I'll take a vacation trip to Baghdad before I ever set foot in that sh!t-hole.

That was a major plea bargain of reduced charges.

The article also says one of the bullet holes was in the windshield of Smith’s vehicle. Makes it look a bit like the killer deliberately rear ended Smith, got out of his vehicle, went around to Smith’s and intentionally shot Smith without any legal provocation. Rather a bit more than mere coincidence and simple road rage.

Why do they call prosecutors advocates. Advocacy is a term for defense lawyers
