Lindsey Graham relents, agrees to have ‘courtesy’ meeting with Obama Supreme Court nominee

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham will join the ranks of his GOP colleagues who have agreed to meet with Merrick Garland — even though the South Carolina Republican remains opposed to confirming President Barack Obama’s nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Graham will meet with Garland as a “courtesy,” Graham’s spokesman, Kevin Bishop, confirmed with The Post and Courier.

“He continues to believe the next president should pick the next nominee for the Supreme Court,” said Bishop, adding that the meeting has not yet been scheduled.

It wasn’t long after Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death in February that congressional Republicans drew a line in the sand, saying they would neither hold confirmation hearings nor a vote on any replacement justice put forward by Obama during his final months in office.

Graham, a member of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, quickly joined that chorus, saying there was nothing the White House could do to compel him to confront his party leadership and demand that lawmakers advance Garland’s nomination. Graham also said at the time he would not bother meeting with Garland since there was nothing Garland could say to change his mind.

Isn't it long past time that South Carolina got that embarrassing fool off the public stage?

We should have written up the script for the GOPee Kabuki Dance on giving the Dem side of the Uniparty the Supreme Court majority, so we could mock them as they played it out before the “election”...

Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip-——Drip

One or two of the GOPe will fall in line weekly until there is at least a 2/3 majority for confirmation.

Since it is only April 8, my guess is, Merrick Garland will be confirmed in time to be seated when the Court convenes in October.

Price? Lindsey Graham?

Think Sally Fields at the 1979 Oscars. Only referring to Democrats.
“You like me! You Really Like me!”

Ergo, THAT is his price

If Graham is opposing hearings because it’s what THE BASE wants, then you haven’t been paying attention to the sort of serial underminer of the voters that this particular sufferer of Potomac fever really is.

I can tell you EXACTLY what these people are doing. They know that we are probably going to be stuck with Hildabeast as POTUS and they don’t want her to nominate someone even more liberal.

I have always said that this approach (not even having hearings) is idiotic. Up and down vote and vote ‘em down. This approach plays RIGHT into the Dim’s hands.

They (Lindsey Graham et all) ....don't want hillary choosing justices

This "lose with Cruz" situation is how he and his evil cohorts plan to "save" the Republican Party. There's nothing left to save if they get Cruz nominated.

McCain is sending Lindsey out to test the water, see if the conservative piranhas are active. If Graham doesn’t draw back a bloody stump from this foray then McCain will come out for further accomodating Garland.

If Trump or Cruz somehow get out of the convention with the nomination the opposition will end and Obama will get his judge. They prefer Obama to either of those two. It's why the GOP must go. It's a fake party whose only purpose is to offer an illusion of opposition.

Why not play the “diversity” card?

The Supreme Court needs a non-Ivy-educated Midwest-values Protestant. Why?

DIVERSITY!
