Fallout: Donald Trump Will Fall 50-100 Delegates Short of 1,237 Needed to Clinch Nomination
Breitbart.com ^ | 6 Apr 2016 | Mike Flynn & Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 04/07/2016 6:10:31 AM PDT by Rockitz

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s overwhelming victory in Wisconsin on Tuesday makes it all but impossible for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump to win the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the nomination ahead of the RNC convention in Cleveland.

Trump currently leads the GOP field with 743 delegates. He would need to win 58.9 percent of the remaining pledged delegates to obtain the simple majority necessary.

A number of the states remaining award delegates proportionally. The bulk of delegates in one critical upcoming state, Pennsylvania, aren’t officially bound to any candidate. The fight for California’s massive 172 delegates will be fought largely in each of the state’s 54 Congressional Districts.

As a result, Breitbart News estimates that Donald Trump will end the primary portion of the nomination fight with 1164 delegates, 74 short of the 1,237 delegates necessary to win the nomination on the first ballot. This estimate assumes Trump’s performance in upcoming contests is consistent with the results prior to Wisconsin.

In other words, it is a static estimate, assuming no great change in the trajectory, tone, or focus of the campaigns. It isn’t based on any future missteps, like those experienced by the Trump campaign ahead of the Wisconsin primary. Our assumption is, in many respects, the most optimistic for the Trump campaign. Because of this, it underscores the steep challenge Donald Trump faces heading into the 4th Quarter of the primary season.

Hmmmm. With Ted's ground game, he could easily get it on the 2nd ballot. The Donald is NOT gonna be happy.

I have said this again and again until it sticks:

If there is a Brokered Convention and G.O.P pisses away it's momentum with Shenanigans, than they are going to Lose in November, even if Cruz is the Nominee.

Whoever it is going to be needs to win outright. Too Much Bad Blood would have been brewed in our own ranks for the Repub Nominee to win. (We control our own destiny, 2016 is ours to lose)

And The GOPe and Bosses are perfectly fine with a loss.

Why? Because what difference would it make? Hillary is Pres? oh no....They still have their Buffets, Their Crackers and Cheese and they get to go to Nine Rivers Country Club every Sunday, so shut up base.

Trump should do something he has never done: Debate Cruz 1 on 1 in a meaningful, issues-based debate. He should do this before he fails to get 1,237 delegates in the primary process resulting in a contested convention.

As you know, every other debate was a spectacle aimed at the “reality - pop culture” TV audience. Every other debate was purposed to raise ratings and revenue for whichever network was the sponsor.

Trump needs to show everyone that he has a detailed grasp of issues he will face when he is President. He needs to show everyone that he is not one-dimensional (”I’ll sue, it’s very big, you have a horse face, believe me, big wall, tweet-tweet, tariffs, excuse me, and I’m very rich”)

Trump needs to go one-on-one with Cruz to show off his over-powering understanding of economics, the bureaucracy, world history, US history, military strategy, current events, foreign policy, his political prowess, his grasp of judicial review, and his knowledge of the US Constitution and federal law.

It should go well for Trump - so why not?? He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

One on one, Trump will have a chance to make Cruz look like an idiot, everyone will see it, and Trump will waltz to victory.

As an added bonus, he’ll strike fear in Hillary’s heart! She’ll get a taste of what she will face in a meaningful debate. During this Cruz debate, Trump can slip in a veiled warning to Hillary, I suggest “I haven’t even started on her yet” or something equally frightening.

Trump is so smart... I’m sure he knows this already. He’s probably just waiting for the right time to propose a real debate with Cruz (not like these pansy debates we’ve seen already.)

If Trump is that close he’ll cut a deal with John Kasich for the VP slot. That would get him the nomination on the first ballot.

Not that isn’t pretty

If Trump doesn't have over 1200, Cruz will win on a subsequent ballot. That's what happens when you insult every other person running. You look around for allies to put you over the top, and there's nobody there.

Trump's campaign has been a gamble -- he believes he can beat everyone else into the ground, and so doesn't have to worry about being liked by anyone other than his own supporters. The problem is that his own supporters haven't been a majority.

Trump hasn't been a politician, but the inescapable reality is that he's running for a political office, and so some political skills are required. And a successful politician needs to be able to build alliances.

This is just a prediction, albeit a relatively pro-Trump Breitbart prediction. It’s up to Trump.

I propose Trump and Cruz have an Apprentice like contest which involves some problem solving - like organizing planning for building a skyscraper. Something real.

Lets see which one is better at solving real life problems.

I don’t think he would even have to make Kasich VP. If he’s within 100 delegates he can cut deals with enough non-Cruz delegates out there to cinch things up.

If Trump and Cruz joined together today as president/vp they would have 1260 combined delegates.

WTH is this unbound delegate crapola?. People vote for a candidate but the delegates can vote however? What kinda BS system is this? And the DemRats have superdelegates beyond the voter representation. Corrupt tasbards extreme.

I am baffled by why smart people just do not understand that the uniparty does not care if the R wing wins or the D wing wins. They are fine with a Cruz vrs Hillary contest because both Cruz and Hillary are card carrying members of the anti-American globalist uniparty.

The only thing the uniparty is not fine with is Trump. Trump is not an anti-American globalist, Trump is an American patriot which is why the entire globalist uniparty establishment attacks him 24/7. After Mitt, Jeb, Lindia, etc all actively joined the #NeverTrump movement anyone that does not recognized this is an intellectual coward with their head buried in the sand. Yes I am talking to you Cruzers.

Radio host Mark Davis said a solution to this would be Trump promising to put Ted Cruz in Scalia’s Supreme Court seat.
