Bernie Sanders committed tonight to formally apologizing for slavery on behalf of the United States if he becomes president.
Sanders told heavily black audience that Tindley Temple United Methodist Church, 'There's nothing that anybody can do to undo the deaths and misery, how many people we don't even know who died on the way over here in the ships.'
But the United States has to make an attempt to 'wipe the slate clean' by acknowledging the truth, he said after an audience member asked him point blank if he'd offer a presidential-level apology and he said, 'Yes.'
And while the U.S. Senator does not support reparations in the form of a check for the inhumane treatment of Africans before the end of the Civil War, he does believe the government should invest in low-income communities, many of which are black, and he reiterated that point tonight....

A much more appropriate apology would be for “The Great Society” / welfare entitlements. It contributed to the disintegration of black families more than anything else.
Oh for Pete’s sake Bernie. You already spent trillions of dollars creating those low income communities out of former productive cities. What more can you do?

The phrase, “throwing good money after bad” comes to mind.
I am OK with this if we subtract damages for rape murder robbery riots etc which the descendants of the slaves have committed. I have been assaulted several times by feral thugs, relatives of mine have either fought for the Union or been injured while policing black ghettos. My father hired more blacks than blacks hired members of my family.
No matter the amount, it will never be enough for some...

Create an environment conducive to job creation if you really want to help Bernie. I thought socialists were supposed to be all about working.
It’s odd that he says low-income districts....because as you look across all of the nation, there are various trailer-parks where there are no minorities or blacks....but in low-income districts....so the reparations he’s talking about....end up as just free money for anyone, but not really blacks. So Latinos, whites, whatever....end up with free money.
Bernie , and his Polish Jewish ancestors , can speak for himself . Me and my Southern kin suffered over 260,000 in Mr. Lincoln’s war and we aren’t apologizing to anyone .

If Sanders had slaves he can make his own apologies and pay reparations out of his own pocket.
Forget about skin color, we needs a robust job-producing economy.
I’m sure glad the USA has lots of spare cash lying around to give away for votes.
