Trump only needs between 39 and 49 more delegates, and Cruz will be mathematically eliminated from attaining 1237 delegates.

Thus he’ll join Bush, Rubio, Kasich, and the rest of the pack as being eliminated from obtaining the delegates due to the direct vote of the Republican populace.

Trump will accomplish this in two weeks.

Ted is dead in the water.

The only hope Cruz now has is to claim that he, having received far few electoral victories and at least 1/3rd less delegates than Trump, deserves all the other delegates.

If Trump doesn’t deserve them for coming close to winning the 1237, why does Ted deserve them?

The will of the voters should enter into this.

I can’t believe how many FReepers on the forum are calling for a nullifying of the vote.

769 delegates remaining to be chosen
479 Trump needs to win
732 Cruz needs to win.

I guess the real question may become where will the delegates that were
won by the other candidates come down after the first round of balloting?

If Trump gets to 1237 legally, he wins. End of story. Failing that, what's of prime importance? I'll tell you - locking out the establishment. (And please, don't come at me with Cruz = Establishment. You are smarter than that.)

How to lock out the establishment? Adopt convention rules that assure that only Trump and Cruz may be nominated.

Regardless of how our chosen candidates proceed, we of the base must press hard for some sort of alliance if Trump does not close it out before the convention.

Otherwise Rove / Romney may well have their way - again. I thought the theme was supposed to be "We Won't Get Fooled Again."

Hey, if you want to root for your liberal wolf in sheep’s clothing, go right ahead. I seriously doubt Cruz gives a flip about your opinion - he’s working to get the nomination on the second ballot.

After Cruz does, you can then vote for an out of the closet liberal (Hillary or Bernie) instead of the hidden liberal in the general election. I hear many folks coming out of the closet have a sudden sense of relief once they admit to what they are - I’m sure you will feel that way, too.
