Very bad decision.

In what is fantastic news for religious liberty
And bad news for military discipline. I admire Sikhs, the ones I've met are great people, but there should be no exceptions to military requirements based on religion.
To: BlackFemaleArmyCaptain
I understand about the bad decision. Sikhs have a history of being ferocious fighters for freedom. Muslim savages would probably rather not tangle with them

'Religious freedom' doesn't matter to Christine Rousselle when it comes to the Sisters of the Poor, Christian bakers or military Chaplains, I'll bet.
I'm SICK and tired of liberals and their SELECTIVE PRIDE in our Constitution ONLY when it suits them.

Sikh’s kill Muslims good. I have no problem with this.

SO.......
In the case of a chemical attack, this guy is totally screwed, and he is OK with that? That’s just from his persepctive.
Watch for all the other “religions” to pop up that say they can have long hair, top knots, totoos on their foreheads, the list goes on and on.
This is rediculous. When joining the military you give up some rights, willingly.
Unless this is an April fool. Lord I hate this day more and more every year.

I don’t see the problem, this has been done before for several Sikhs and even a Muslim or two. The gas mask issue, while a real concern, hasn’t been one for some time now. In my 30 months in Iraq, my pro-mask sat in the bottom of my duffle, never to be seen.
While appearance may be an issue, I think the military these days worries too much about what looks right, as opposed to doing what is right.

And Christians cant wear a cross.
What utter bs.
This is the sh1t going on as to why we need a purge and complete disbanding of all fedral alphabet agencies.

I say it’s OK only if they have enough Sikhs to form a Gurka battalion; have them in the same unit.

Very good decision. Brits/Indians allowed this for a very, very long time. The issue isn't the reg per se but can a face mask be sealed. It can. A related issue is, as so many posters have noted 😏, has to do with universally famous Sikh Kirpan. Regulations should permit this, too.
