Cruz Comes Out for Abortion: Even If Abortion is Illegal 'Women Who Get Them' Should Not Be Punished
Editorial ^ | 30 Mar 16 | Xzins

The Cruz campaign has gone on record supporting women getting abortions. The campaign says there should be no punishment for those women if abortion is illegal. Deadline Hollywood reports:

Ted Cruz campaign chairman Chad Sweet...this afternoon told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Cruz believes in punishment for doctors who perform abortions, not the women who get them.

Pro-life supporters are scratching their heads. If they succeed in getting a pro-life amendment, Ted Cruz appears to be saying that the amendment should contain some kind of non-culpability clause, so that Congress can write any law resulting from a Life Amendment in a manner that allows women to have abortions in this country with no worries about the law.

In fact, since Cruz thinks only doctors should be punished, if a nurse or other type of provider performs the abortion, then the odd situation of a Life Amendment with abortions still being performed will be the result. The bottom line is that Ted Cruz has no problem with women having abortions.

One has to wonder sometimes about lawyers.

The part where you actually think a pathological liar and misogynist like Trump actually wants to punish women for abortion.

I think it’s Virginia where women who’ve had a miscarriage must report it to the department of health. You could go to jail if not reported within twelve hours.http://democracyforvirginia.typepad.com/democracy_for_virginia/2005/01/legislative_sen.html

Didn't ask you, either.

Two weeks ago, during 40 Days for Life, I was praying and giving public witness in front of Planned Parenthood.

I was standing by, and talking with a woman, who held a sign saying: “I regret my abortion.” She said she feels this is what God wants her to do.

Would I want her to be punished? NO!!!!

HOWEVER, at another time, I saw the ABORTIONIST leaving Planned Parenthood, at the end of the day, in his SCRUBS. It’s as if he wanted to keep making the blood money until the last minute. The abortionist is the one I want punished.

Here is Cruz’s statement:

“Once again Donald Trump has demonstrated that he hasn’t seriously thought through the issues, and he’ll say anything just to get attention. On the important issue of the sanctity of life, what’s far too often neglected is that being pro-life is not only about the unborn child; it’s also about the mother—and creating a culture than respects her and embraces life. Of course, we shouldn’t be talking about punishing women; we should affirm their dignity and the incredible gift they have to bring life into the world.”

Still, you seem to be in dire need of help, and you ought to accept it from whatever quarter it comes.

“CruzTards must be in meltdown mode? And I would normally be a Cruz guy, but this? This right here? Really? This is OK? This is what the GOPe makes him do?”

Trump steps in it big time and the signal is flashed to attack Cruz. Happens. Every. Time.

Just because you write down your stream of thought doesn't guarantee it to be intelligible.

Oh, and by the way, stop being such an asshole.

Trump and Cruz appear to have the same position on abortion.

“If anyone other than a doctor performs the abortion, then it will be fine according to Cruz. “

No. If If anyone other than a doctor performs the abortion, then it will be against the law and they can be punished.

For crying out loud! No one believes that women should be thrown in jail for abortions. If abortions are not legal we need to go after the ones who do the abortions!

What if you can't, because they are outside your jurisdiction?

What if abortion is illegal in the US, but the woman takes a short flight to Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, etc, and has the abortion there? In such a situation, there is nobody to legally punish BUT the woman.

“Usually life imprisonment if not death. Is that what we want to do?”

Pro-Life means that Life begins at conception, and continues through gestation, through birth, until natural death.

That means that the fetus and the ten year old child are equivilant and should be treated equally under the law.

um... what!?!

it’s either a baby or it’s not.

If it’s a baby... then it’s murder to kill it after it is born, or before it is born.

Am I missing something here?

An abortion is one dead and one wounded. Most women who abort do so because they were pressured by somebody else to have the abortion. And many post-abortive women punish themselves, though they don’t realize they are doing it. Those who work with women in prison have said that probably 80-90% of the women there, when they finally look at their life, realize that their life of promiscuity, drugs, and crime began as a response to an abortion. They wanted to die just like their child had died, because a big part of them died with the child.

There’s no such thing as a woman having no consequences to an abortion.

What they need more than anything is healing. The people who exploit their personal pain and raging hormones for the sake of money and/or power are sick puppies, and they are the ones who need legal punishment.

I am about as pro-life as they come, but I’ve had a personal experience that helps me relate to abortive women. We lost our first child at 42 weeks. We had 3 living children and then I miscarried and went into post-partum depression. I conceived again but when I almost immediately had spotting we did an ultrasound that confirmed a heartbeat - when my daughter looked like an old-time clothespin. I cried with joy. A couple days later the doctor told us he had never seen a child survive with that slow a heartbeat; we shouldn’t get our hopes up. I should take progesterone to keep from miscarrying in the remote chance that the child would live. I had tests to monitor the HCG and progesterone levels but the nurses started not calling me or calling me back and I thought they must know that the child had died. I didn’t think I could survive the pain of hoping and losing again. Believing she had died, I wanted to stop the progesterone and give up. My husband was not full of raging hormones and he wouldn’t let me stop the progesterone. My sister spoke faith to me, and our daughter - who we named Tabitha, our little girl back from the dead - was given my sister’s name for her middle name.

I had no hope. I needed somebody to be strong for me, and my husband was. That’s what a husband is for. But these women most often have a man who wants her to kill the child, have parents who want her to kill the child, and are told by a “doctor” that it’s just a blob of tissue like a bloody nose. They are hurting and deceived.

I mentioned that our first daughter was stillborn at 42 weeks. When our second child came along I developed gestational diabetes after the time they usually test for diabetes, and I was confronted with the probability that the same thing had happened in my first pregnancy and my Christmas candy had killed my child. The doctors had told me everything was fine, and I trusted them. But I had to live with the realization that my trusting the doctors had killed my child. Could you imagine if, after the hell I lived through because of that, a police officer knocked on my door and told me I had to go to jail for killing my child?

If we had a law that nobody could earn one penny off of abortion it would end tomorrow. These doctors don’t do this out of the goodness of their hearts; they do it for money. And the women they deceive and abuse are just one more casualty, just like the child in the slop bucket.

RE: That means that the fetus and the ten year old child are equivilant and should be treated equally under the law.

Well, that means the death penalty or life imprisonment then.
