Federal prosecutors investigating the possible mishandling of classified materials on Hillary Clintons private email server have begun the process of setting up formal interviews with some of her longtime and closest aides, according to two people familiar with the probe, an indication that the inquiry is moving into its final phases.
Those interviews and the final review of the case, however, could still take many weeks, all but guaranteeing that the investigation will continue to dog Clintons presidential campaign through most, if not all, of the remaining presidential primaries.
No dates have been set for questioning the advisors, but a federal prosecutor in recent weeks has called their lawyers to alert them that he would soon be doing so, the sources said. Prosecutors also are expected to seek an interview with Clinton herself, though the timing remains unclear.

Violating the law by mishandling classified information is hardly meaningless. She risked the security of this country because it was more “convenient” to handle her business on her personal email account.
Personally, I think the FBI has Hilly ‘cold’ on many fronts, enough to put her behind bars the rest of her life & then some. Actually, I think they’ve got enough for a last cigarette, blindfold, & a wall. The DOJ prosecuting is another matter. She won’t ‘enjoy’ her FBI interview - I wish I could be a fly on the wall.
Outside of Bizzaro world, that would sink her faster than the Hood !
Her problem is, if FBI forwards to DOJ with recommendation for prosecution, and they refuse, some senior FBI straight arrow resigns in 24 hours, then goes on media to reveal, then on $50,000 per night speaking tour.
They would not have immunized the computer geek unless he had something to “trade up.”
Sleep well.
It’s always the fault of someone else with the Clinton’s... Always.
This is like Patty Hearst making a defense that she wasn't as bad as Baby Face Nelson.
Yes, and what you wrote is accurate according to what happens to everyone else working with clearance.
The LAT article is blissfully ignorant of 18 USC 793 and 1001.
Comey has in his hands whether we are an aristocracy or a republic.
Let her Plead The Fifth dozens of times. Politically, that's the equivalent of a confession.
Read the comments - all of them are down on the bull spit that the LA Times is puffing for Hillary Clinton.
Every single comment.
The article was written by Hillary’s staff.
No, it's an operation to have Mrs. Bill Clinton plead guilty to a misdemeanor and have the whole thing go away.
I think this issue would become a much bigger problem for the Wicked Witch if she pleaded guilty or no-contest to any charge. She has consistently insisted that she is innocent. A guilty/no-contest plea would be an admission by her that she was lying the whole time. She won’t admit that.
50/50 chance that the emails led them to some Foundation shenanigans, which could lead to Income Tax problems, fraud, and much more.
Somehow I don’t thing she would have fought as hard against just the email releases and abuses indicated by them.
Good chance the emails led them elsewhere, and it would NOT be “fruit of the tainted tree.”
PS, had a “guest” COD trap and shot off the old “Bonnie Dick” off RVN. Most cool.
I too do NOT see Hitlery making it to the finish line.
I think the DOJ and White House have this odd factor to work with. Let’s say that Trump wins, and puts a public prosecutor on the job of the e-mail server....they will call in not only members of the State Department during this period (Hillary-hirees) but also members of the White House. I don’t think DOJ and the White House really want that to occur. Right now, they control the mess...in 2017....they probably won’t be able to control it.
I don’t see how we get past late June with Hillary still in the race. The convention is 28 July, and I think two weeks prior to it....she will drop out because of the legal proceedings that will occur.
I doubt Drudge knows anything. Between Hillary and her media sycophants they’ve promoted the message that mishandling the email was not criminal, everyone else did it, etc.
They’ve deliberately confused the issue to take it off the table from most voters’ POV.
The article depends only on reporting favorable to Hillary while ignoring others that indicate she’s far guiltier than anyone previously prosecuted in recent times.
I doubt the FBI will learn anything new from her aides. What they will be able to do is create a situation where the aides may lie. If that happens the FBI has them. The FBI is probing for weak points in the “family.”
I’m not sure if the “interviews” will be similar to the one Petraeus went through. If it is, the case will laid out against each aide and it’s lets make a deal time. There may be only one aide that gets the immunity deal. The rest will face prosecution.
Each of them is now in legal jeopardy and watching the meter run on some expensive lawyer rentals. That will hurt.
The FBI is already into the foundation stuff.
The article states the investigation is being wrapped up. There’s nothing left to run through the election. In the next few months Hillary will be Petraeused.
Broadwell was a West Point graduate and a major in the army reserves. Someone fed the wrong dope to Drudge on purpose.
You’re going to be pleasantly surprised in the next few months. All of the latest leaks indicate the investigation is complete except for interviewing the targets. Up until now it looked like Judicial Watch was going to get the first round of subpoenas issued. Obviously the FBI has beat Judicial Watch to the punch.
The only uncertainty is the status of the investigation into the bribery, money laundering and tax evasion. I suspect Shalala has also been notified she’s won an official FBI interview.
