Donald Trumps ignorance of government policy, both foreign and domestic, is breathtaking. The Republican Party is likely to nominate for president a man who appears to know next to nothing about the issues that would confront him in the job.
Such a sweeping condemnation may sound unfair. I wouldnt be surprised if Trump were already busy tweeting that Im a dummy or something. But if you read the transcript of Trumps hour-long meeting with the editorial board of The Post, which took place Monday, I dont see how you can come to any other conclusion.

And who will likely not accept any advice. Trump, like Obama, always thinks he's the brightest guy in the room and anyone who suggests anything different from what he believes is, by definition, not worth listening to.
Hillary hack. Ignore him.
Yeah, agree with Dem hack Eugene Robinson. See how far that takes your credibility.
You just showed your shocking ignorance.
Trump surrounds himself with competent people, and listens carefully to their advice.
He explains it in "Art of the Deal," but of course you have no need of actual facts because you already know everything.
Eugene Robinson is wrong about everything important. He’s a politically corrected communist.
Betcha they say Trump told them “I can see Russia from the top of Trump Tower”.
“Donald Trumps ignorance of government policy, both foreign and domestic, is breathtaking.”
TRANSLATION: Trump refuses to go along with the highly corrupt foreign and domestic policy that our leaders have been profiting from.
You can say that isn’t true, but look at where we are right now. Look at the terrible foreign policy is and what a mess our relations with, well, EVERY other nation on the planet has become. To say that current ‘policy’ is what TRUMP should follow and support, is to ignore the facts.
FornicaTed!!!
He is right. You should read the transcript. He actually talked about his hands for maybe 5 minutes - almost 800 words. I have posted at least 50 times that everyone posting at FR has more knowledge of basic civics and policy matters than he does.
I caught Duncan Hunter defending Trump, saying he still has time to “learn” on some show in the last week. He should have started long before he declared.
So I'm wondering which of his advisers is telling him it's a good idea to nuke the Middle East, dump NATO, and charge Israel for defending it?
It’s called “negotiation.”
You demand far more than you actually want at the beginning so your adversary is happy when you settle on a compromise that you both can live with.
It’s all in The Art of the Deal, but like I said you obviously are a person who doesn’t need facts because you already know everything.
It’s hardly fair to criticize Trump for talking about how Marco started the vulgar hands thing, when he was specifically asked about it by the journalists.
I read the transcript, and don’t see any reason to jump up and down about him being some kind of idiot.
It's called "threatening" and in diplomacy it generally doesn't get you very far.
You demand far more than you actually want at the beginning so your adversary is happy when you settle on a compromise that you both can live with.
So what is the compromise? Either you nuke them or you don't. Either Israel pays us for defending them, something that would come as a great surprise to the Israeli Defense Force who thought that's what they were doing, or you don't. Where is the middle?
Its all in The Art of the Deal, but like I said you obviously are a person who doesnt need facts because you already know everything.
I leave thinking that they know everything to Trump and his merry minions.
A good manager doesn’t know everything but is known by the quality and results of advisors and employees he brings into the fold. While I don’t view Trump as the smartest, I think his business experience will lead him to him making good hiring decisions for key areas.
“So I’m wondering which of his advisers is telling him it’s a good idea to nuke the Middle East, dump NATO”
I just read the transcript, he explicitly says he doesn’t want to go nuclear.
He explicitly says he doesn’t want to dump NATO.
So did you just make this phony stuff up or what?
Hillary hack. Ignore him.

RACIST HACK Job!
As opposed to “carpet bombing” the Middle East, advocating belonging to an organization structured for a war that the paradigm has shifted, the U.S. foots the bill and the other participants have let their militaries dwindle and rust?
JUST OUTSTANDING!!!!
