The first rule of the GOP convention is that there are no rules
The Washington Examiner ^ | 3/22/16 | By Timothy P. Carney

It was a blatant mockery of democracy.

On the floor of the 2012 Republican National Convention, a handful of delegates had compiled the necessary signatures to propose an amendment to the rules package passed out of the Rules Committee. Those rules took power away from state parties and disenfranchised delegates for Ron Paul.

"GOP leaders told my colleague David Drucker that they don't consider the 2012 candidate rules binding in the least.

And the party leadership can pass any of these rule changes over the objections of a majority of delegates, as that 2012 performance indicated."

You smarty pants try Frickin’ anything, and you’ll be lucky to get out alive.

Trumps supporters will not be amused or shut down.

I thought the first rule was “You don’t talk about the GOP convention”?

They can stage things so that it all goes their way, including getting out alive.

Nope. The flunky in North Dakota has probably been chastized for telling the truth, but the party picks the candidate, the rest is just window dressing for the unwashed masses.

Democrats are quite open about rigging things and playing dirty to get what they want.

They don’t resort to subterfuge and cover ups because they know their voters don’t care how they play as long as they win.

Republicans try to cover up their underhanded dirty tricks because they know most conservatives and patriots expect a fair deal.

But in the end they are just as slimy as democrats.

Well of course - they HAVE TO GET RID of rule 40 which would block the son of a mailman and all the other walk-ons like Paul Rhino.

They should skip the convention. Just make Hillary the republican nominee and save the money. At least people voting for R-Hillary instead of D-Hillary may also vote for R senators.

But if they manipulate us so that we feel we escaped something worse, we might cave. That’s what I see happening. Look around at the average voters, even the average conservatives. We’re not all Bundys. Far from it. Unless I’m wrong.

For all those who claim the RNC is trying to steal the nomination from Trump should understand that this is BS! Rule 40(b) was enacted as a temporary rule for 2012 only. The purpose of this rule was to ensure that the delegates from each state voted in a manner that reflected the votes in their states.

Ron Paul supporters had manipulated the delegate selection process to seat their supporters and who intended to vote “their conscience” rather than how the people voted in their states.

This forum was replete with Ron Paul supporters plotting to manipulate the delegate selection process till they finally figured out that it might be best to discuss that in private.

Rule 40(b) was a temporary rule for 2012 only.

At this point I would be very surprised if Trump doesn’t have a very solid contingency plan that would place him on the ballot in all 50 states, independently.

And if the GOP steals this from him - especially if he has enough delegates - we will destroy the GOP.

Exactly.

I’m a Cruz guy.

But if they steal it from Trump, I’ll go get my pitchfork (etc.) and run down to the nearest party headquarters.

Thank you for referencing that article detective. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Consider this side note from a related thread ...

Not only are political parties not defined by the Constitution, but they exist to control 10th Amendment-protected state powers and associated state revenues that the corrupt Washington cartel has been stealing from the states since the end of the Civil War, and arguably since the administration of President George Washington imo.

The problem that patriots seem to be having with the political parties is this. Since patriots today have grown up with political parties, they wrongly think that the parties are in integral part of the constitutional republic.

In fact, regarding the so-called political party conventions for nominating a president, here is the actual constitutional process for “nominating” and voting for a president.

”Article II, Section 1, Clause 2: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

12th Amendment: The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; ..."

Note that one of the very few powers that the states have actually delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, to decide domestic policy is to regulate, tax and spend for the US Mail Service (1.8.7).

So the key question concerning the political parties is how many political parties does it take to manage the US Mail Service?

I say none.

Remember in November !

If patriots elect Trump, Cruz, or whatever conservative they elect, they will also need to elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to not only support the president, but also surrender back to the states state powers and state revenues that the corrupt feds have been stealing from the states.

In fact, note that such a Congress will also probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
