Cruz Warns Trump in Feud Over Wives: 'Real Men Don't Attack Women'

Ted Cruz warned Donald Trump not to "attack women" Thursday after the Republican frontrunner appeared to escalate the personal feud over their wives.

"Donald, real men don't attack women," the Texas senator wrote after the billionaire retweeted an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz.

The exchange came after Trump showed no sign of backing down in the dispute over a campaign ad that featured an old picture of Melania Trump posing handcuffed and nude for GQ magazine.

The flare-up prompted Jeb Bush to endorse Cruz Wednesday in a rebuke to what the former Florida governor called the "divisiveness and vulgarity" of Trump.

Trump repeated late Wednesday that he believed Cruz "knew about" the ad, which appeared to be aimed at persuading Mormon women to support Cruz in Tuesday's Utah primary.

The ad was created by the anti-Trump Make America Awesome Again super PAC and featured a photo shoot of Melania from 2000 with the meme caption: "meet Melania Trump. Your next first lady. Or, you could support Ted Cruz on Tuesday."

As polls closed in Tuesday's contests, Trump tweeted : "Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!"

On Wednesday, Cruz told NBC's TODAY that Trump's threat "speaks volumes about character" and "is the epitome of classlessness."

"If Donald is trying to mess with my wife, he's way out of his league," he added

Cruz could have demanded his name be removed, but he lacks character.

The bottom of the ad also states it's not tied to any candidate. I'm sorry that you don't understand that Trump is stirring up controversy for free publicity. Disparage another man's wife?! LOLOL SHE posed on DONALD'S private jet for the pics and they were just republished by GQ in March! I'm sick of Trump's antics.

Cruz did nothing to disavow the ad. That was an error on his part.

I believe (but don't know, as I am not a mind reader) that Cruz decided that disavowing the ad would be a tacit admission that he was sometimes connected with it. Has Trump even asked for a disavowal?

Middle school answer, “I know you are but what am I?” This is now what passes for political discourse on FR.

She IS running for president.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3413103/posts

Heidi Cruz, the wife of GOP presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% , deflected a threat by Donald Trump to “spill the beans” on her during a brief press conference in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

“Well, as you probably know by now, most of the things that Donald Trump says have no basis in reality,” Mrs. Cruz responded to a reporter’s question about Trump’s tweet.

“So we are not worried in the least and [we are] focusing on our campaign, and we are going to continue to do that,” she said.

(snip)

“What I think most women want is a better future for their children, and that’s what I want and it’s why Ted and I are running,” Mrs. Cruz added.

“It is not Cruz’ PAC. It is an anti-Trump PAC”

Run by RedState.com, a notorious Pro-Cruz blog. And didnt that ad specifically say “vote Cruz” in it?

But yeah....Ted just “had no idea”! Who’s RedState?! Never heard of them!

If this was a Hillary PAC and they pulled some ad about Cruz’s wife, I can guarantee you no one here would by some BS that Hillary just was completely clueless.

Cruz did nothing to disavow the ad. Just another Crybully throwing punches then crying when you get hit back.

It's not Cruz' job to defend the Trump's from something THEY did. Didn't Donald say it wasn't his job to defend Obama?

And Trump is the "cry-bully" here. Is he yelling about GQ republishing the pics of Melania on his jet? No.

Cowards due it through surrogates.

Real men don't allow or encourage their PACs to do it in the nastiest possible way, either.

This is getting ridiculous.

Yes, but begs the question: What is either candidate going to do when running against Hillary?

“He didn’t say she was cheap. Just said she and Ivana apparently were willing to do jobs that Americans (except for Marla) don’t want to do.”

That’s cute. You know where that phrase “willing to do jobs that Americans don’t want to do” is derived from.

If you want to play dumb so you can cover Romney’s rear, then just say so.

So what you’re saying is that Cruz is responsible for the cause and effects of people doing things on behalf of his campaign. Cruz is responsible for not disavowing something supporter’s did or said and therefore, Ted Cruz is ultimately responsible for the threat Trump made to Heidi Cruz, correct?

Just clarifying. Making sure we have the rules straight here...

>> Cruz’s team posted inappropriate pics of Trump’s wife <<

What was inappropriate? Are you saying there is something wrong with a tasteful picture of a beautiful nude woman?

Moreover, if you think there is something wrong about it, don’t you think Mr. Trump should be denouncing Melania for posing that way?

CRUZ STARTED IT! AGHHHH!!

And "conservative" media has twisted it around on TRUMP!

TYPICAL bully behavior. The bully attacks the schoolmate, but when the teacher gets there she only sees the schoolmate's DEFENSE, and blames him. And of course THE BULLY won't take responsibility and tell the teacher, "I started it."

Cruz is the bully throwing the sucker punch, then when the schoolmate seeks to protect himself, the SCHOOLMATE appears to be the instigator and no one will point that out to the teacher.

A Super PAC supporting Cruz attacked Trumps wife. Trump did not start it. What part of that do you not understand?

Well, in the first place, the Super PAC is not supporting Cruz. They are anti Trump. The ad said Vote Cruz, because he's the last guy standing that has any shot at stopping Trump. He won't, but that's another thread. Did Cruz disavow this ad? Yes he did, in his first tweet.

What worries me is that the level of venom directed to other Freepers, when we should be directing our fire at the Dems and Hillary.

We can all read the polls, and they say that Donald, as much as we agree with him, cannot beat Hillary. Latinos, Asians, and Blacks will NOT vote for him. Plenty of polls bare this out. I didn't take these polls, and I don't have any interest whether you guys believe them or not, but ignore them at your own peril. Twice in the last eight years I have whistled past the graveyard, and been brought up short once the votes were counted. And what were we doing? We at FreeRepublic were telling each other that if you couldn't find a PERFECT candidate we were staying at home. We got Obama 2.0 as our reward.

So as much as I agree with Trump on the wall, and the feckless deals the GOPe makes with Obama, and several other issues, I worry that if we continue to call each other names and refuse to look at the Big Picture, we may be all pulling our hair out on Jan. 20.

Oh sure. Super pacs dont just decide that they love a candidate so much that they go out and spend time and money to destroy the competition. They own the candidates and expect payback. This is the dirtiest part about politics when candidates pretend they dont work with the super pacs who support them.

I have had it with you Cruz supporters...honestly.

Every day, every post it is obvious just how smarmy Ted Cruz is. Equally obvious is not just Rush Limbaugh but each and every supporter of Cruz is assimilating such smarminess.

If there is one person to blame for the break up of the conservative movement it is Ted Cruz himself for it has become painfully obvious just how far left (tactic wise) it has become.

Cruz’ wife is now fair game and I hope Trump destroys her and Ted’s myth.

He didn't attack anyone's wife.

No he is too big of a coward so he had one of his PACs and Mitt Romney attack Trumps' wife.

“It’s not Cruz’ job to defend the Trump’s from something THEY did”

They are using HIS NAME. RedState (the owners of the SuperPac) are well-known boosters of Cruz on their blog.

Cruz could say RIGHT NOW that he condemns that PAC and the people at RedState for running it in some attempt to help HIS candidacy.

Trump before Iowa shut down every PAC that would have been operating for his benefit. Cruz cowardly hides behind multiple ones, so they can take the swings, and he can hide like a little bitch, just like he did all through this election.
